Arden looked shocked. "So you really betrayed us? Why? Did they offer you a lighter punishment? I thought you were in love with your master," he said, forgetting about his own flaws and blaming Aurora for everything. In his eyes, the woman had lost her position as a princess long ago. She was just the lover of his master and didn't deserve much respect.

Aurora closed her eyes; tears escaped nonetheless, but she didn't speak. She was afraid her words would be so incoherent that everyone would hear the voices of her shattering heart.

"Drag them all away and put them in the prison," Alex announced, feeling his own heart hurting when he looked at Aurora.

When Aurora was questioned, she broke down and informed them about the plan. She told them she never wanted it. She only wanted a future with Cedric, but it cost way more than she had ever expected.
