Wishes, banquet, and fate

Dhvani waited for a long time before realizing that her unscrupulous boss wasn't going to appear. She had little expectation because he replied to her right away the last few times. And she had tried a handful of times. But does anyone think that the staff helpers have a private life of their own? No one, right? Personally, Dhvani had been scolded many times for spamming till they reply, a very bad thing to do. She knew, yet, she couldn't help herself.

All of the staff work hard and yet they had to deal with over-enthusiastic people like her. But this time, she reined in. Because there was no staff here but only her immediate boss. He couldn't handle all the stress from these many systems, she understood. So she did what she could. She complained on the server.

She found Sari, the medic, online. Sari had just dropped a series of new gifts in the server chat.

Dhvani managed to grab one. Due to the gift fairness rule, a member can only grab one. But it depends on the user to grab a good one or not a too good one. Because obviously, no one would drop bad or useless gifts there.

And Dhvani harvested a breath-hiding pill. Sari should be some kind of fairy medical practitioner. Dhvani kept the pill for later use. So she talked with Sari.

[Sari-medic]: You grabbed a good pill. BTW, how are you coping in the system world?

Dhvani was waiting for the question.

[Dhvani-no specs]: I just found out yesterday that I'm a spirit. I thought I was some kind of suspended animation kind but not a spirit. It is hard for me to get to understand this.

[Sari-medic]: Never happened to me. I saw myself dead. I floated for a while before coming here.

[Dhvani-no specs]: If you don't mind me asking, how did you die?

Dhvani never thought that she would ask this question to someone. It should be considered rude but in the situation they were all in, this question could very well be the introduction. Take her as an example. She could say- Hi, I'm Dhvani. I'm an engineer. I like reading. And I died in a car accident. What about you?

[Sari-medic]: I was killed by the rebels so the king couldn't be saved. I was a member of imperial physicians. Only when you die, can you understand how much you can do in your life. I always wanted to go out of the capital and see all the other places. Well, now I can.

[Dhvani-no specs]: What kind of world are you in now?

She was interested in this. She found that many people here were optimistic and they kind of made their regrets and lived through their host. She could also do that but she wanted to live her life herself. That could happen when she finished all her tasks. She instantly checked the minimum task requirement and the task specifics.

The specific tasks were the tasks considered mandatory which were issued by the boss and they were host fame, host life, host world, and host realm. So she just had to make this world exist in a higher realm. That would happen when she raised the technology and happiness indices of the world of Ajay. So she should start motivating Ajay in doing tasks. It could be done if she showed him carrots. But were carrots in his view, she had to find out.

[Sari-medic]: Same world I am from. It's just I went back thousands of years ago. So if I could change some things, maybe the kingdom wouldn't perish in the future. And I'm hoping to be born there again. Hard wish but everyone I know is there.

[Dhvani-no specs]: I hope you do. We can make a wish system and the boss could grant some wishes from the ones collected there. He could just pick up and fulfill the ones he finds appropriate.

[Sari-medic]: That's a good idea. We need three members to make a group. And that group could work for this reason of wish fulfillment benefit. We have to wait for someone else to approve. The next one who is online will approve. Then we can start writing all our wishes. This could very well be used for passes, favors, and maybe currency. It should be made a weekly event. And each person should have three wishes to be handed in. If someone wants to buy a wish, they should exchange something of value. We can make rules as we go on. What do you say?

Well, what could Dhvani say? She was currently flabbergasted that her idea became a currency in a matter of a few minutes. She liked it though. She could save her wishes and exchange more things. She wanted to use them as system rewards. Other than the tasks judged by the boss's system program which steadily gave points and coins, she can add her rewards so Ajay would be caught in this marvelous dream woven by her and then work for her in a good manner.

[Dhvani-no specs]: Let's see who will become a shareholder of our venture in this group. That person will also get some perks.

[Sari-medic]: Sure, let's make a group.

[Wish You Good group invites a member to become an admin. Click to accept]

[Dhvani-no specs]: It's done. We will meet later to check and make the rules.

[Sari-medic]: I'll be online daily. Just message me.

[Dhvani-no specs]: Bye!

Dhvani made a plan and she worked on it instantly. She submitted the request to issue a task. When she submitted it, it was immediately approved. She wondered if there were any bots in the system. Well, someday, she would each and every secret of the system.

[System Task: Make a new spell]

[Reward: Breath-holding pill]

Ajay woke up from this announcement. He was still disturbed by the sudden appearance of the system. It was night time and he could the stars twinkling. It was a rare sight for him who always went t sleep early Now because of a system's reminder at an ungodly hour, he could see the beauty of the night sky.

He managed to wake himself up and read the message by summoning the system screen in his mind. A transparent screen appeared before him and he touched the accept button without completely reading the message and fell back on his bed. He still had to get back to his beauty sleep.

The new day dawned with repeated missed calls from his parents. He understood that the news of his adoption had been conveyed to them. Before he could call back, they had arrived. As he walked down the stairs, he noticed his family had already surrounded Tarsh and gawked at the five-year-old boy. This also included his adopted father.

His adopted father unlike his biological father was very casual. His biological father looked chic in his formal suits while his adopted father preferred casual clothes and on this particular day, he was sporting a red T-shirt and jeans.

"Ravi, stop scaring the kid," his mother admonished his father.

While his biological father let go of Tarsh's surrounding position, his adoptive father immediately got in and presented a small bear toy to the boy.

Seeing this, Mr. Ravi was enraged.

"You bad guy, we had a deal."

"The deal was when you were there and you left your position. You can't blame me for taking this advantage."

Ajay looked at them quarreling and went to eat his breakfast. His system, Dhvani kept a lookout for the things happening in the living room. She heard them arguing about the best grandparent and Tarsh stayed with Indu who gave him chocolates. Chocolates beat toys in this case. So in the complete argument, only Indu won.

"He is not your grandchild but son, get it?"

They all turned to him and looked with very hurt faces. And Indu who was in the background was snickering. If anything, they should be considering Indu for this reason. He was not considering marriage and kids right now. So after clearing up this confusion, the painting method changed to who was the best father.

Ajay facepalmed himself and looked at the people who perfectly avoided being bombarded in this conversation. He had no reason to blame Tarsh so he turned his spear towards his sister.

"I could make you go to more reality shows as punishment for throwing me here."

She grinned.

"You can't. I'm having a break now. You have more things to worry about than this."

"Like what?" He shrugged.

"Like the recognition banquet. Many ladies might be wondering about the heir of the Neel Chandra group. You will be hunted. Good things there are only guys in other major families or you would have a freshly baked fiancee out of nowhere."

"I'm not having a banquet," he answered with a smirk.

She looked at him like he was a mentally retarded person.

"You fool. I'm talking about the banquet for Tarsh. Seeing how much our parents like him, they would want to include him in the wealthy families and this is the best way to do this."

"Why am I the only one to suffer? What about you? Aren't you the only girl? Why aren't other heirs after you?"

Ajay did what every normal person would do. He wanted to get comfort from seeing his sister in the same situation.

She laughed loudly which caused her hairstyle to become undone. He thought herb fans would be frightened by seeing her unsightly situation.

"I'm the boss. They are all scared of me. Where would they like to see me? It would be fine if they didn't run away after seeing me."She shrugged.

"So you were the child king? If I was here, I would have dethroned you."

"Big talk from a guy who gets scared by some girls.

"You can see how I perform then."

And Dhvani here got a very possible gossip straight from the source. She wondered if she could tell the netizens about their favorite goddess. That would make them feel very close to their idol. She selectively ignored the matter of Ajay fearing to meet the ladies at the party.

After telling everything about Tarsh and also consulting everyone's opinion including Tarsh, it was decided that Tarsh stayed three days a week with him and then two days with his adoptive father, and the last two days with his biological parents.

Tarsh seemed very happy at the prospect of so many family members. Ajay's parents thought that he was an orphan and considering that he adopted the boy, they all automatically included him in their family. He knew his biological parents were good because they considered his adoptive father also as part of their family. That was the hardest part but he was the glue connecting them.

The banquet was held at his parent's villa. It was large, near a farmyard, and had a mountain next to it. It beautifully incorporated the feel of a fairy house with a modern sense of style. The villa had three floors and a big garden at the side. The garden had tables and chairs set up for this occasion. And when they all appeared in parent-child outfits, many people stopped whispering. The beauty crit was the reason. And they all moved to the front.

His father then introduced them to everyone present there.

"Everyone, this is my eldest son Ajay and my younger son Tarsh. Take care of them when you can."

His mother scoffed at the simple introduction but still did not interrupt.

"Now, we can all enjoy the delicious feast done by my wife."

The thing was it was cooked by Ajay's dad.

The party was good with people talking in twos and threes. Ajay's adoptive father who was a well-known professor also had an audience of his own. So Ajay wanted to slip away quietly. Tarsh was being taken care of by his sister.

But he was stopped by an incoming person.

Dhvani was instantly excited to see this. Ajay should have looked good because many people were watching his actions.

"Hi, it's a fate for us to meet," a beauty in red spoke to him.

Dhvani saw that her beautiful face had no blemishes and she wore minimal makeup. Even she wanted to make friends with her. Some people like her liked to watch, good-looking people.

But Ajay's answer threw a basin of cold water to her expectations.

"Yes, it should be fate. That's why you should play the new virtual game by my company. It's called Farming with Fate. I hope I can see you on the leaderboard."

He left the stunning beauty standing there while the gossipmongers and eavesdroppers stood still, dumbfounded.
