Tragedy (1)

The start of a legend only happens after a tragedy. That's what people expect from a story, making them look forward to seeing the past of its hero.

Tragedy is sad and painful, yet motivating and inspiring. The greatest winners standing on top of the world once were the greatest losers drowning in the deepest bottom of the well.

People who already tasted how it is to step into hell will make everything to not go back there. They will want to fly higher and higher until the smell of sulfur never reaches their noses again. They open up their path across the skies and break the doors of the heavens.

So, that's inversely proportional: the deepest you go in hell, the higher you reach once flying back upward.
