The boy felt something soft under the back of his head, as if he was lying on a pillow. It was a very comfortable sensation, the type you wouldn't want to move not to ruin it.
'I think... I just wanted to rest a little bit,' he thought. And, just allowing himself to have such a thought made his eyes slightly teary. Tears of relief, not sadness.
His entire body was in pain, especially his left arm and chest. His eyelids were heavy. His mind didn't want to work anymore. Just having that internal monologue felt like solving an entire notebook of math problems.
Nonetheless, the image of Melissa standing on top of that wall appeared in his mind. Then, the image of those Ancients assaulting the Guardians of Goliath. Finally, the scene of the walls of that mighty fortress being ruptured by them.
His memories of what happened a few minutes or hours ago were returning bit by bit in a messed chronology that he was struggling to fix.
