Bitterness and sorrow

"So, how about the number of survivors found on the fortress?" one of the male Beast Hunters asked. He had a tired face. It was already way past noon. He couldn't really tell the hour, but it was nearly five in the afternoon.

"We gathered the survivors in an individual tent and waited for about one hour to give the news," the young healer of the Supportive Team said. "We could find one hundred survivors out of approximately two thousand soldiers and about eight hundred citizens who were wandering in the north region of the fortress. The number of citizens is not exact, but the soldiers who could run away said that the average number of Guardians in a position high enough to participate in battles neared the two thousand. We are still searching for more since this fortress was so huge.

"Out of the one hundred survivors, though, half died on the way to the tent. And, after waiting for some hours, twenty more could not resist."
