Hindering the target (2)

The venomous shots aimed at Pan came at full speed, faster than an arrow, then hit her body. If Mark hadn't closed his eyes, he would panic upon seeing such a scene, thinking that their plan was ruined.

If a little bit of that viscous black liquid was enough to corrode concrete buildings or the stones, human flesh was nothing in comparison. It would melt down like butter on fire. 

Pan also closed her eyes instinctively. She knew that her eyelids would melt down and the venom would reach her eyes in no time, that it was pointless even to put her arms in front of her face. Even so, her body reacted alone, knowing that it was facing death.

'I have always been the type of person to make bets... Ever since I was a kid, I guess. Maybe, that's why I turned out to be such a person. I gambled too much and, when things didn't go well, I ended up losing myself.
