Seeing his dad’s unmoving body in front of him does something to Derek. For a moment fear grips him as he believes he might have killed that old man with his own hands. Even though it would have been well deserved, for some reason, Derek did not want that man’s blood on his hands.
Placing his fingers on his wrist he finds a faint pulse. Letting out a deep sigh he moves away from that man he had called ‘dad’ all his life.
As he stands away for a moment to really look at that man from a distance, he feels intense hatred in his heart for him.
Not only had that man managed to ruin his childhood and youth, but he was also on his way to finishing his future by sending him away to jail for life. And worst still, he didn’t even feel an iota of guilt for what he had proceeded to do with Rose at a time when she was pregnant.
Derek feels a sense of disbelief at even the thought of his dad being married to Rose.
