Chapter 67

Remy wakes up and is instantly welcomed by his painful body. He regrets waking up to his sore muscles and pain lancing at every minute movement. Last night was a disaster and he was fairly sure he died. The whole thing seems to be so dreamy but the pain tells him a different story.

“Hey!!” Remy opens his eyes wider to watch Vivian stand crouched down by the bedside. Her face is laced with concern and her eyes are glistening with recently shed tears. “How are you feeling? Can you talk?”

“W-water” Remy croaks, feeling his dry and rough throat.

Vivian brings a glass of water and helps him to sit up on the bed resting his body against the pillow. The creaking noise confuses Remy as in his dehydrated state he cannot determine whether the sound is coming out of the bed or his bones. Vivian brings the glass to his lips and he greedily gulps the water ignoring the pain in his jaw. When he is sated, Vivian wipes his lips and sits before him on the bed.
