Her bag is packed. Iris in a green long shirt, brown pants, and green boots looks around the room. Yesterday, she woke up to do the same routine. Today, she finally leaves the village. Her heart pounds not from nervousness but from excitement.
“Are you ready to go?” Iris turns to see Elder by her doorway. “Strange, you usually sleep until the afternoon. Now you are up bright and early.”
Iris chuckles. “Well, I need to be. The whole village is counting on me.”
The silence fills the room until Iris asks “Hey, Elder. Why did you give me this mission?”
Elder answers simply, “Mmmm because I believe in you.”
“Really?”
“Should there be any other reason?”
“Uncle Zorro doesn’t believe in me.” Iris pouts. “So why do you?”
Elder closes her eyes," Zorro has his own reason which he will tell you. As for me, I see a part of your mother inside you. And if you really are Silica’s daughter, you can’t be stopped in any way.”
Iris laughs at this information. “Thanks.”
“No problem. Now, I think we should go now. Iris and Elder head to the door. Elder stops Iris. “Wait, I think this will be easier.”
A white magic circle appears on the floor. “This a teleportation circle. We get from here to the front of the village in seconds.”
Iris frowns, “Why didn’t do that sooner?”
“Mm, consider this your punishment for always sneaking off into the woods without telling anyone,” Elder answers nonchalantly. Iris laughs as the magic circle activates.
Iris opens her eyes and is in awe of the sight. The sky is a clear, and the land and the road stretch from miles. She can finally see outside the village.
“Wow” is all Iris can say. Iris meets with Boss and the others who also come to wish her a good journey.
Boss comes up to Iris and hands her an item wrapped in a white cloth. “Here, Iris. I made this specifically for your journey. This is will help you get out of any jams.”
“Thanks,” Iris takes the item and asks, “Where’s Zorro?” Boss hesitates and sighs, “He couldn’t make it.”
Iris frowns. “Disapproval until the end huh?”
“Iris,” Boss brings Iris out of her head, “I don’t have much to say. Everything is happening so quickly. So, all I can say now is good luck.”
Iris nods in understanding.
“I wish you a safe journey too Iris. Make the village proud.” Silver smiles.
“You’re really going. We used to wonder what the outside world was like, and now one of us is going. It’s all so overwhelming!” Rose tears up.
“Ruby, don’t cry. Or else I won’t be hold back anymore!” Ruby hiccups. “Good luck Iris!” Ruby and Rose sob.
Iris pats their heads. “Don’t worry. I’ll be back triumphantly. I’ll even bring souvenirs.” Ruby and Rose grab at her waist, and they continue crying.
Once the crying has stopped, Iris picks up her bag and walks down the road until turning once more to see everyone. With one last wave, Iris continues walking.
