The silence grew more oppressive the further they walked in the forest.

Part of the tension came from the fact that nothing more happened.

No more monsters jumped out to attack, and they saw no more sign of the blue fog or… well, anything. A bead of sweat dripped down the back of Achilles’s neck, and he saw that Medea seemed tense as well. When nothing was happening, it felt like anything could happen!

Dagenor did not seem to be bothered by the silence. He followed more or less happily, though he was a little more wary now that he had received wounds in the previous fight. He kept one hand free, and Achilles guessed that was so he could put an empowering oil on his weapon at a moment’s notice.
