CHAPTER FIFTEEN

I sighed and looked up at Chloe, she just shrugged and put addy in her high chair and gave her pasta, which I think is spaghetti.

"Where did you learn to cook anyway," I asked as she went and poured me a glass of water.

"Your mother," She replied placing the glass in front of me.

"My mother, you mean we stayed in contact with them?" I asked confused.

"They separated, but yes," she answered with a small smile.

"Mommy is uncle Xavier coming over to play today?" Addy asked kicking her feet back and forth in excitement.

"Maybe, I'll give them a call after dinner," Chloe says as she got a sippy cup out of the drawer.

"Uncle Xavier?" I mumbled under my breath.

"Yes your baby brother," She answered as she passed addy her sippy cup full of apple juice.

My baby brother... oh shit I have forgotten all about him! I thought to myself.

Chloe went and got herself a plate of spaghetti and sat down to join us with a jug of juice on the table.

"So wait the baby was a boy?" I exasperated the question.

"Silly daddy I'm the baby!" Addy says giggling.

I shook my head out of it, that's right addy's the baby now, but wow, I have a baby brother.

"You're right Addy, I am being silly," I says in a child-like voice.

"Are you feeling any better?" Addy asked with her mouthful of spaghetti.

"A little," I says with a smile.

We then sat in silence as we ate, utensils clanking against our plates.

It wasn't a bad silence it was peaceful and Addy seemed to enjoy her spaghetti or at least whatever made it into her mouth, her high chair and her face was covered in tomato sauce.

Noticing I was watching her she gave me another toothy grin as she put another handful of spaghetti into her mouth.

I tried not to laugh at the mess, because I know either I, or Chloe would have to clean it up and that thought horrifies me.

I looked back at Chloe as her brunette hair framed her face and brought out her dark eyes as she swirled another mouthful onto her fork; she looked up and blushed.

"What?" She asked taking another bite, her face turning a shade of pink.

"Nothing, just staring at my beautiful wife," I winked at her making her blush a deeper shade of red.

"What about me daddy?" Addy says pouting.

"Oh you're my beautiful angel," I says in a more child-like tone, she giggled in response.

Chloe got up and began gathering up the dishes, I got up to help her.

"Go get Addy cleaned up, I got all this covered," I says taking the plates from her giving a kiss on the cheek.

"Are you sure, there's a lot of dishes," She says worried.

"It's fine, go," I says smiling pushing her towards our daughter, who is currently sucking on her tomato sauce covered fingers.

"Yeah, alright, okay Addy lets go get you cleaned up," Chloe says with an exasperated sigh.

One month later.

Chloe's P.O.V

Blood, blood is everywhere; I could only focus on the blood the flooded the floor, on my hands and my clothes, but it wasn't my own.

I looked up to see the puddle of blood, of course, belonged to Colby, bleeding from his chest, his breathing exasperated, shallow.

A scream broke out of the dead silence making me panic I looked up, Carolynn standing in the doorway her hand covered her mouth in fear, as Allistair barged in through her pushing her out of the way.

"You whore! What did you do, you killed him, did you think you could really get away from this, did you think you could run, stupid bitch!" Alastair screamed at me, blinking away tears all I could do was sit here looking at my hands, down in my lap laid a gun.

The gun that killed Colby.

"No no no this can't be happening, it wasn't me!" I detested screaming through pain and tears.

"Of course it was you, this was all your fault, more trouble than what you're worth," Alastair spat as he reached grabbing me, I tried to get away I tried to run but he caught me.

I bolted upright on the couch in cold sweat and tears it took me a second to regather my surroundings.

I suddenly felt sick, I tried to hold the bile coming up but I felt dizzy and nauseous, I ran up to the bathroom almost falling into the toilet disposing of my stomach contents in a large heave.

Taking a deep breath I sat my back against the wall, and I pulled my knees to my chest.

Am I getting sick, I hope not, I have to work today.

The coolness of the bathroom tile was inviting, I didn't feel good; my stomach felt queasy.

I flushed the toilet and laid down my cheek hot against the cold tile.

I took a breath remembering the nightmare I just had.

"It's not my fault," I whispered to myself closing my eyes.

A sudden knock on the door made me jump to a sitting position making me groan nauseated.

"Yeah?" I called out my throat raw from puking.

"Are you okay?" Hayley asked sounding concerned.

"I puked," I spoke obviously rubbing my hands over my face.

"Can I come in?" She asked softly, her voice is a bit husked from sleep.

"Yeah," I replied breathlessly.

The door clicked open and her head popped in as she shimmied her way through the doorway and closed it behind her so there's more room and took a spot next to me on the floor.

"Are you okay?" Hayley asked again, I shook my head and closed my eyes again; I feel nauseous and tired.

"Maybe we should both stay home today," She suggested softly.

"Don't we have to go to work?" I asked before another bile started to come up my throat.

"Not if you're puking," She shook her head as she answered.

My body lunged forward and I puked again, this time painful.

"That's it we're staying home, I'm calling work," Hayley says matter of fact as she got up and got her phone.

"No," I choked out. "No one of us has to make money," I says trying to catch my breath, but I puked again.

"It's fine, Chloe I can take a day off," She walked out making me alone again.

I flushed the toilet and leaned my head against my forearms holding me up from the toilet.

I heard her on the phone with her boss telling him that she will absolutely be in tomorrow, and I know I'm going to have to do the same thing once I can get off the floor.

Taking a minute to collect myself before I collect myself off the floor and into the living room, and laid myself on the couch.

Hayley came in passing me a mint, which I gladly accepted and placed it in my mouth, and she passed me her phone to call Jack, my boss, I dialed the number with ease and put the receiver to my ear, after three rings it clicked.

"Hello?" Jack's voice came over the phone.

"Hey Jack its Chloe," I says taking a deep breath.

"Let me guess, sick again?" He questioned before I say anything else.

"Yeah, but I promise I'll be in tomorrow," I says hurriedly.

"Take your time, just get better soon so I can have my star worker back," You could hear the smile in his voice.

"You got it," I says smiling a little.

"Alright, see you tomorrow," He says before he hung up and I was listening to silence, I ended the call and passed Hayley back her phone.

"You've been sick like this for three days," Hayley stated leaning against the doorway to the kitchen with a hot mug of coffee in her hands.

"I know," I replied breathlessly laying back down on the couch.

"Have you gotten this sick before?" She asked with her eyebrows knitted together, I shook my head.

"Maybe we should go see a doctor," Hayley says taking a sip of her scalding hot coffee.

"I don't know, seems too much for something so little," I says sighing.

"Chloe it could be serious, go get dressed and I'll take you to the walk-in," She nodded toward the bathroom.

Groaning I got up and picked up a pair of black skinny jeans, a black tank top and some underwear then headed to the bathroom.

It can't be that much of a big deal, can it?

I quickly got dressed, left the bathroom and picked up a woolly sweater off the chair in the corner of the room I bought the sweater at the mall after my last shift.

"Okay let's go," She says picking her keys off of the coffee table.

I sighed following her out the door closing it behind me and she put in the keys locking the door, we walked to her car and I took my seat in the shotgun as she started the ignition.
