"It came out positive, Chloe you are pregnant." He says looking me in the eye.
"Oh." Is all I could muster out, I didn't know if I should be happy or devastated.
"Is there anything else I can help you with today?" He asked slowly.
I shook my head, I felt numb and I'm getting angry over the fact that I can't feel anything about it.
"Okay, well I'm going to need you to come back in six months," he explained writing on a small piece of paper with a pen.
"Why?" I asked confused.
"-Because we need to check up on the baby," he explained passing me a note.
"Oh," I say again taking the piece of paper from him, Hayley rubbed my back gently and I just sat in silence.
I slowly got up and headed back towards the door with Hayley trailing behind me.
Neither of us says anything the entire way back to the car, that's when the emotions hit me all at once and I lost my footing.
Anger, resentment, isolation.
I don't know what to do but I have to do something, I held myself up against the car then got inside and sat staring out the window.
"Hayley," I began.
"Yes?" She answered.
"I want to go see Colby," I announced still not looking back at her.
"Okay, I'll drive you now." She replied turning us around.
We drove for an hour and forty-five minutes, I'm an hour and forty-five minutes more pregnant then I was before and Colby is still not here.
We finally rolled into the hospital's parking lot I looked towards the hospital, Colby is currently unconscious in a hospital bed not knowing what's going on around him, and it hurts.
I got out of the car and ran towards the entrance with Hayley calling out to me to wait, but I didn't I walked through the open and shut doors and all the way into where he was laying.
I fell to my knees, so many needles were prodded into his body, his face was covered with a mask that helped him breathe.
My chest hurt, I wanted them to pay.
Tears ran down my face, my hands balled into fists, I slowly got up and walked up toward where he is laying.
I pushed his hair away from his eyes, I took the hand that was free and placed it onto my stomach.
"I'm pregnant Colby," I whispered through tears.
"Our baby is in here." I laughed at the same time I cried.
"Now I just need you to wake up." I kissed his hand holding it tight.
"Please," I pleaded but all I got back was the beeping and silence.
"Please wake up, I need you." I blundered as tears fell harder.
"He might never wake up." A male voice says from behind me.
I spun around to the rude obnoxious commenter.
"What did you say?" I asked.
The boy seems to be on some kind of liquid, he had a caramel complexion and very short light brown hair with brown eyes.
"I said, he might not wake up, he's been a coma for a month and a half, the longer he's under the less likely he will." He says sighing.
"What do you know, he could wake up any minute," I say angrily.
"You're right he could but he won't." He says half agreeing, it took everything in me not to tear him to pieces.
"How dare you, you don't know anything!" I screamed.
"Listen, lady, I've been here for years, I seen people die every day I've been here so I do know what I'm talking about," he says aggravated.
"What's going on here?" A man asked in the hallway.
"I'm just giving this lady a reality check, that's all." The sick guy shrugged.
"Ivan, that is not your job. Go back to your room." The man says angrily.
"Whatever doc, it's the truth," Ivan says shaking his head and walked out and down the hallway.
Finally, the doctor walked in, he had white hair and a white lab coat with a name tag that says: Doctor Frasier.
"I'm sorry about Ivan, he seems to rather have the negative side to things," he explained with a sigh.
"Is it true?" I asked my throat dry.
"-Well," he began.
"Please just tell me the truth." My eyes began to water.
If there's even a possibility of him not waking up, pregnant or not, I will keep my vow.
I will kill them even if it's all by myself.
"There is a chance yes,-" He says.
My heart just shattered and I began to wail there is no such thing as life without him.
"-But we are doing everything we can for him to wake up," he says sympathetically.
"How long will that take?" I asked through broken breaths.
"There's no way to tell you that information because we don't know for sure." He says with a sigh.
I ran back to his bed I began to shake him.
"Colby, Colby please wake up please, please," I pleaded as my throat went hoarse.
"Miss you can't do that," the doctor says calmly but I didn't listen I continued to shake him and call his name.
Colby's P.O.V
"Colby, Colby." The sound was faint but I could hear my name being echoed around me, I looked around trying to place it.
"Darling, are you alright?" Chloe asked looking at me strangely.
"Uh, yeah I'm fine." I lied, something is telling me I should keep this to myself.
"Colby, please wake up!" The echo was louder this time, but no one else seems to be stirred.
Suddenly the pain in my head from earlier was back and I fell to my knees with a grunt.
I opened my eyes and a blur of a white ceiling and a beeping sound loud in my ears, but I closed and opened my eyes again I realized I was on the kitchen floor, and the beeping sound was gone.
Faces surrounded me as my mother helped me sit upright, I felt dizzy.
"This is not you being okay, Colby." My mother fussed.
"I know, I didn't want to worry you," I explained slowly, my head was pounding and it hurt with every movement.
"I think I should lie down for a while," I finally decided, as I got up off the floor.
"Are you sure that's a good idea?" Chloe says nervously.
"How about you go watch some T.V for a while dear," My mother requested instead.
"I think I honestly just need to sleep," I explained as the pain and my head got worse.
"Well first just lay on the couch and relax for a while,"
"Okay fine," I agreed clearly annoyed by the fact I can't go lay down.
I walked to the living room to the couch and laid down, I picked up the remote and turned on the TV.
Chloe's P.O.V
Three doctors pulled me off Colby and took me out of the room pulling me down the hall towards the exit.
"Chloe, what the hell is going on?" Hayley asked surprised.
"Are you with her?" One of the doctors asked Hayley.
"Yes, she's with me," Hayley confirmed.
They finally let me go, my face was a mess of tears and I tried to run past them again but this time Hayley took my arm and dragged me the rest of the way out the doors to the parking lot.
"Chloe stop," Hayley says sternly.
"No!" I cried she let me go and I fell onto the black asphalt skimming my hands and knees.
I can't do this.
"I can't live without him," I say quietly through sobbing.
"Tell me what's going on!" Hayley yelled frantically.
"He might not wake up, Hayley I don't know what to do," I continued to cry, suddenly my head felt like it was spinning and I puked where I sat.
She calmed down and rubbed my back placing a kiss on my shoulder.
"We will figure things out," Hayley says slowly.
"How? How are we going to figure things out, I don't even know how to take care of myself regardless of a child," I say as tears ran down my face.
"I will help you," Hayley says still rubbing circles on my back.
I turned my body so I'm sitting up and placed my head in my hands.
"No, you can't I ruined your life enough I can't make you take care of my baby," I choked out.
Suddenly she got down on her knees and took my hands looking me in the eye.
