The young werewolf hopped from rock pad to rock pad, swinging her tiger printed dress as she sang the new song her teacher taught her. Her mother was sad again, sad because her big sister's death anniversary was coming up. She didn't like the way her mother would always be before and after the memorial, so she decided to cheer her up. The girl went to fetch her favourite flowers but since she couldn't find them in the pack territory, she went out to look for it. Her parents had no idea when she left. They didn't need to know, she'll be back before they suspect. That was what she thought until she ended up lost.
The girl wasn't scared, just worried that her mother would be worried. She'd been away from home for days, feeding from the fruits of trees she come across. She thought of her wolf…
If I had my wolf like my older sisters, she would help me find my way back or make it easier for daddy to find me.…
But she didn't have her wolf yet, she was only a month above seven. She had to find her way on her own, and it wasn't going so well.
Her mother would be crying, her father freaking out, Isla, her sister, would be sad, but Zira wouldn't care. Zira was her eldest sister, the next alpha. She didn't possess the quality of an alpha for reasons her father didn't know, but she was his first living child so she was the next. Zira wasn't like Isla who was sweet, kind, gentle, and understanding. She was more of arrogant, self-centred, demeaning and careless, very careless. Isla had more dominating aura than her but her father still insists Zira Rude becomes the next alpha. Zira was thirteen and recently got her wolf. Isla was eleven but already has her wolf. She shifted at ten which her father thinks is remarkable.
She wished she could shift too.
The girl knew that if her father don't find her soon, her luck would run out. She could die of hunger, cold or even rogues. There had been a lot roaming about that she manage to avoid, but it wouldn't last. The pup yearned for her mother to be beside her, to hug her. She might be brave, but she was only just a pup.
No, Lulana, don't cry, don't cry… She recited in her head.
She kept singing as she continue to walk into the forest. Her scandals was almost worn out. Her dress was covered with splashes of mud, dirt and twigs. She had dirt allover her face and hands too and she was tired.
Then she heard it, a vicious bark coming not too far. Her young nose picked up on the stench, the really bad one. The girl gathered her dress into her small palms and ran. Heavy paws and snarls followed her movement, they were after her. The girl's young heart pounded against her chest as her breathing quickened. The rogues were after her and this time, she knew she wouldn't be able to avoid them this time.
Her feet carried her as fast as she could. She jumped over fallen branches, crushing twigs and insects with her legs. She manoeuvred her way around trees, pushed protruding branches out of her way, not daring to glance behind her. She could hear them, she could almost feel their hot breath scorching her skin. She knew running away was a waste of time, but her survival instinct pushed her forward.
The sound of their heavy paws getting closer reached her ears before her little body was suddenly flying across the forest and slamming into a tree. A little cry left her mouth, her ears pounding violently immediately. Her breathing stopped for a few seconds, before it came back to her with a sharp wheeze. Her body fell down from the tree, collapsing on the ground with a cough. Tears rolled out of her eyes, her body scrambling away from them. She didn't need to look to know she was surrounded. Cowardice men who would hurt a child.
With her eyes closed, she counted seven, their presence made it obvious. She heard the snapping of bones, indicating one shifting. She wiggled her stuffed nose, their stench made her sick to her stomach. Even though she had no wolf, she was still the daughter of two alphas and could perceive well. She felt him draw closer and bend over her.
"Well, well, well, look what we have got here, it's a little stray wolf. What happened? Your family abandoned you?" He asked, grabbing her bicep in his tight palm. He easily lifted her up the ground, using her bicep to hold her up. Pain radiated from where she was held, causing a sob to leave the lips of the young one. The rogue scoffed, tossing her back on the ground.
"She's from Crescent pack, I can smell them allover her. Whose daughter are you?" The girl whimpered with fright. The moment she mentions her father's name, she'd be dead. But again, she would die either way. That theory was proved when he growled. "She's a Crescent! His daughter! Look at the birthmark on the back of her palm!" She screamed as he growled, continuing screaming as the sound of his adjusting bones reached her ears. This was it, she was going to die, her future would end.
All she wanted to do was to make parents happy again. All she wanted was to gladden her mother's heart. Her second eldest sister was right. She was nothing but a mindless child who thought she could bring happiness to everyone that cross her path. Now, she has done nothing but destroy her family even more. Her mother would commit suicide once she hears of her death, and her father, well, he's was as good as dead. Her sister, Isla, she could already see how depressed she would be.
She opened her eyes, her heart stopping when she saw the large open mouth of a large brown wolf coming to her. But just a few inches away from her, the wolf was flying and slamming through trees. Before she could register what was happening, thick floral vines dashed out of the tree, snapping around her body and lifting her off the ground. She screamed a bit, but stopped with a gasp when she found herself in the arms of a girl. She didn't have the time to look at the young girl holding her because of the frightened howl of the wolves.
She turned her head back to the wolves, quick enough to see a blue current of wind pass through one of the wolf. Immediately the wind went through the body of the wolf, it stiffened. Before her very eyes, the wolf turned into a ice statue. She caught sight of another girl, boredly wagging her index finger, a pink glow encasing it. She was shocked when the glow covered the frozen wolf and his body flew off the ground and dropped, smashing to pieces. A swift movement passed her eyes, and she saw another girl stand in front of a wolf, but before she could see what happened next, the girl carrying her pressed her face into her shoulder, so she won't see the horrible sight before her.
Loud painful cries echoed in the forest before it went silent. The scent of million flowers from the girl holding her filled her stuffed nose and somehow disoriented her. "Well, that was no fun," she heard a slightly deep but feminine voice snort out. "I was so bored I almost levitated my eyes."
"April, get her out of here, she can't see the frozen and ripped bodies." She didn't know whom among them said that, but the chill that ran down her spine was terrifying. The voice sounded cold, light, but cold as in icy cold. How that was possible, she didn't know, and she didn't feel like caring. They saved her, that mean they are good people, right?
"It's okay, baby, you'll be fine." She felt warmth pass through her body from hearing the voice of the person holding her. It was gentle, soft, and delicate. It made her think of flower petals. The girl she guessed was the April, removed one hand from her body. She felt the girl jump, and from the rush of wind and the snap of ropes, she wondered what was going on. She dared lift her head, gasping when she saw that the girl was jumping from tree to tree. Before her weight rest on the branch, she was off jumping to another tree.
Who exactly is this?
April jumped on the ground, so effortlessly the little girl marvelled at how light on her feet she was. "There, safe." The little girl looked at her trembling hands, she was clinging onto the stranger like her life depended on it. She didn't even know her body was shaking and that she was crying. The whole thing left her in shock. April stroke her hair gently, rubbing her back at the same time. "It's okay, we won't hurt you, and we won't let anyone do either. I promise, you're safe with us."
"She has been lost for five days, she's brave and smart," the deep feminine voice said, making her flinch. When did she get there? The new comer reached her hand forward and touched her head. The girl felt a little unsettle tingles in her head. She suddenly felt relaxed, like the single touch assured her for real. The deep voice smiled.
"Her name is Lulana," she looked around, seeing two more girls. They were all so gorgeous, even if one made her a bit frightened in a way. Wait how did she know her name? She hadn't spoken a word since she was saved.
"Lula, my name is Xyra and these are my friends, we are here to help you," the one who spoke had a light and melodious voice, a familiar smile on her face. It reminded her of her father's. "The girl holding you is April, our goddess of plants and animals." Lula looked at the girl holding her, smiling weakly.
April was beautiful, any male would kill for her. She had semi-long amber naturally Permed hair, office green eyes, pale goldenrod skin. She wasn't that tall from what Lula could see, but she made up for it with her chest. Her chest was big, just like her mother's. Since her legs were wrapped around April's hips, she could tell it was large. She could already see the unmated males following her about if she should ever stay in their pack. April also looked like the gentle one who doesn't speak much and would rather spend her day reading books. Isla would love her if it's true.
"I'm Zephyr," that chill again. So, it was her. "In case you're wondering about the chill that runs down your spine every time I speak, it's because I'm a wereghost, a different kind. You'll get used to my voice soon enough." A wereghost? She didn't even know they exist, let alone see one? She must have been the blue breeze that froze the wolf. Lula's eyes brightened, she could already see a best friend big sister in this one.
"Zephyr, a powerful wereghost. Her own kind of wereghost is different. She is human, with all the abilities of a ghost, most abilities of a ghost and more. No one really knows her history, but she said that her father was a level sixteen ghost who took the form of a human to chase the woman he fell in love with. Her psychic mother fell in love with him and they had her. The weird offspring some hunters tried to eliminate before the ladies took her away. Zephyr is blonde; brownish gold and honey blonde. Her eyes are grey and her lips ruby red. She almost looks Korean. She is tall, slender, and pale, very pale bluish white skin. She looks more of a vampire than a ghost, but again, vampires and ghost share one thing in common; they are both dead. She is beautiful, just has a fierce adorableness to her scary look." Zephyr said proudly. Her friends gave her weird looks.
"What?" She asked innocently.
"What are you doing?" April asked.
"Describing myself?" Zephyr asked back, staring at April like she was the dumbest person on the planet. Lula giggled. She definitely liked that one.
"As you can see, Zeph is an idiot, so ignore her. I'm Moira, my power doesn't really have an easy classification, but I can manipulate gravity and technology, and I'm a telepath. So yes, as we speak, your every thought is being played to us, so we can understand you better. That'll explain why Zephyr is describing herself—"
"And I'm her big sister best friend!" Zeph squealed, flying into the air and spinning, giggling profusely. Lula was surprised she could fly, but decided not to be surprise with anything that deals with them.
"And, I'm Xyra," Lula looked between Moira and Xyra. Gosh, Xyra was gorgeous, and that smile. Moira obviously looked like the tech brain of the team, really intelligent. Taller than April, shorter than Xyra and Zephyr. Slim, short but shiny black hair, brown eyes and pale mild ivory complexion. Yet again, she didn't look innocent at all. It reminded her of her gamma's daughter, Fina.
Xyra, on the other hand, looked different from the others in a sort of way. She was abnormally beautiful, as if an enchantment was placed on her to hypnotise men. Looking into her eyes, she couldn't help but think of her family trait. Her father's lineage was known for their brown or grey wolves and, of course, the grey eyes and brown hair. Every child born into the family get the hair and necessarily, the eyes. If the person's wolf is grey, he or she gets a brown streak on his or her back. Same thing goes if the person's wolf is brown. Xyra's eyes were azure, azure and smoke grey. It wasn't exactly, but she couldn't fathom why she thought of her family.
"I couldn't escape either colours so they both made themselves comfortable in my eyes. Although at night, the grey completely disappears. It's weird, I know." Xyra said, smiling gently. That smile. Why did she think of her father again? Xyra's hair wasn't brown, not even a tint. She had azureish white hair with one third of the edge, azure. The white mixed with azure mist.
Then it hit her.
Her mother showed them the three years old version of her eldest sister, and her name was… "Xyra? Xyra!" Lula gasped. Xyra smiled, her sister was definitely smart.
"Yes, it's me, your sister. I'll explain to you later, but first, we need to find the pack. It's about to be ambushed. We might have slowed the attack down by killing one of the leaders, but the others will. I know you don't remember how to get back, but Moira can retrace your steps through your memories. I need you to trust her, open your mind to her so she can find home, to save our family." Lula nodded eagerly. Moira placed her hand on her head again and her other hand on Zephyr's, so she'd directly see the direction.
She felt a little pressure in her mind, but it was gone as soon as it began. Zephyr snapped her eyes open, a bright blue overtaking it. Lula watched with awe as her body shimmered before turning transparent. "Hurry, Zephyr, warn my parents, get the pack ready before it's too late."
"On it." Zephyr whooshed into the air, zooming off with a large puff of cold air. Before she disappeared out of sight, she transformed into a blue gush of wind and was zipping off.
"So cool." Lula thought.
"Well then, let's get you home, little sister."
