I looked away to the window and let my mind wander off like it usually do. Different thoughts flooded my head, both unnecessary and necessary. I didn't want to think, I didn't want to worry. So when the driver announced that we were about to cross into the magic barrier, I focused my analytical mind on the road. The path was smoothly and neatly paved with pink and green concrete, fields of deep green carpet grass and rows after rows of acorn and apple trees at each side of the road.
The path was quiet, extremely quiet with only the rustling of leaves, zephyr breeze, birds, squirrels and the soft sound of the limo, to tone up the quiet place. I looked up to the bright blue sky, the sun did wonders to it and the snow white clouds with pink tint. The brightness of the sun enchanted the glow of the trees and grass. It had rained earlier, so the leaves of the trees glistened like small diamonds.
I stuck my head out of the window and let the fresh afternoon air blow my hair wildly. The air almost smelt like cinnamon, milky cinnamon. It reminded me of my freedom. I never had this much freedom to do what I like back at the castle. It was a satisfying feeling.
"Please, put on your seatbelts, the barrier crossover might have some effects." The driver announced again. I didn't bother myself, I only pulled my head back in and whined up the glass. I could see the barrier wall stretching high to the very beginning of the atmosphere. The barrier was like a water wall, a blue and yellow water wall only shapeshifters and elves could see, but only those with the king's permission could pass.
I wasn't surprise I could actually see it full length, I wasn't normal after all. Immediately the car pass through, immediately it energy connected to my soul, I fell into a trance. There was a war, a bloody war between witches, vampires, elves, shapeshifters. In a brief moment, I saw as the war ended with blurry images of seven ladies in white, standing at the very spot and conjuring the barrier. They created five barriers; for the vampires, elves, werecanids, werecats and witches/warlocks. To separate them and keep them from crossing each others boundary without permission. Something about those seven ladies rang a bell, but it was gone as soon as it came.
"Oh my clit," Moira breathed once her eyes fell on the other side of the barrier. It was a large city advance in technology, like an alien city or one of those dramatic magical cities in movies. It was remarkable, breathtaking, awesome.
"So humans don't see the barrier and just pass like nothing is there?" Lula asked. Dad nodded in confirmation.
"It's like another world in here," Zeph gushed, shoving her face into the glass.
"It is another world," mom smiled. The limo drove into the city of hovering cars and bikes and buses, with few normal but amazing cars.
"Wicked," I said when I saw how they demolish buildings. It just scrambles like a bad computer virus until it disappears.
‘Majesty, isn't this amazing?’
‘I feel weird.’ She replied instead. She was getting restless all of a sudden.
‘Are you okay?’
‘Maybe the trance or the effect of the crossover, I'll be fine.’
The car took turns after turns, few stops because of traffic lights. With every passing second, Majesty grew more agitated and restless, and began pacing in my head. The smell of cinnamon, different roses, and something between snow and milk got stronger. It was making me hungry in a way I didn't understand. Goosebumps spread across my skin when we crossed into the golden castle, followed by mental and inner tingles.
Something was definitely wrong somewhere.
Carswell's viewpoint
I stood over at the balcony of my room, looking up at the clouds and the funny shape they were making. It was one of my favourite thing to do; looking at the sky both at day and night. The scent of the roses all around the castle always made the air smelt nice. Mother was obsess with roses, she loved them. But what no one knew was that the roses was to help mask the scent of all in the capital. The whole of the city was surrounded with it. It was in every street, every corner.
People thought it was the queen's love for roses because she added other kinds of roses, but it was just to cover the enchanted roses so suspicion won't grow. The roses also helped strengthen the barrier, and separate the two dimensions. They smelt different from every other roses, strange but yet the most pleasant scent I'd ever perceived. The scent alone gave me peace and relaxed my mind as well as any other who takes their time to enjoy it. Sometimes, it would give off cinnamon and snowy scent, then return to it original strange but pleasant scent.
Without the roses, I would have lost my mind a lot of times.
‘Do you smell that?’ My beast pushed it thought to me. I wiggled my nose as I perceived the odd scent. It was like the rose scent, similar to it but clearly different and much more alluring and pleasant.
‘The roses has change scent again.’
‘No, it's different, stronger.’ He insisted. ‘Something isn't right with the scent.’
‘Well, whatever it is, we would figure it out soon enough.
Xyra's viewpoint
I was done arranging my things into the closet. I didn't even take up space, Zeph and Moira's things took it all. They were sharing a room with me because I wouldn't let us be separated and live alone. We had to live in group just in case of anything. April and Lex, obviously. Lula stayed with our parents. We were already done changing and was just settling out things before we go down for dinner. I seriously wonder what we would be doing here for seven days. Just partying?
"Let's go," Moira said, already at the door. She opened the door for us and stepped out first, hand still holding the good doorknob. Zeph and I walked out and heard her shut the door before falling inline with us. We converse on how cool the castle is, how finely built it was and of course, the technology installed in it.
Our room was amazing, a little bit too sky blue but fine. We took pictures in every hallway we passed through, laughing and making comments on everything we saw. It was much more comfortable here than the other lady's castle. Once at the massive dinner hall, we found our table amidst the crowd of different werecanids. I heard the other creatures like vampires, elves, warlocks, etc, would be there at the fifth day which is the main birthday party.
Dad was in the middle of a group of alphas of different kind, laughing with a wine glass in his hand just like the others. Mum was with her fellow lunas, April and Lex talking with some beta males and females and Lulana, staring at a nine years old boy trying to flirt with her. When I got closer to the table, I kicked him away with a shoo, which made Lula release the breath she didn't know she was holding.
The girls and I sat down and started whispering about the girls present, laughing at their hairstyles, makeup, clothes and even their faces. It all ended when someone screamed with dismay. The whole place fell into silence immediately as we all turned to the one who screamed. A blonde lady stood over a reddish brown haired one, smirking at what she did. She poured something allover the brunette, soaked her dress and was making her feel pain. She was a lycan and the brunette, werewolf.
"I'm not going to warn you again, Trisola, get out of the castle. I won't have you ruining my chances with the king."
"He hasn't even chosen you, leave me alone," she cried.
"You are just a pathetic werewolf, what chance do you have with a king?" Blondie mocked. I inhaled sharply.
Not my business.
Not my business.
Not my business.
"Just because you are stronger doesn't mean I don't have a chance," brunette said with pain.
"But it does, because I'm a lycan and you are nothing but a pathetic little alpha female of a miserable pack of dogs…"
"That's enough," mum barked. She is one of the high lunas, the only present alpha Luna, so she had the right to interfere, "we are here to celebrate the king's birthday, not fight over whom is stronger. Now, leave that young woman alone."
Blondie scoffed. "Of course, you will support her, you are just like her, an alpha female of pathetic breed of dogs,"
Now, it is my business.
I stood up from where I sat and walked over to the scene. Mum was replying her and then she said mum is an old bitch who should kind her business, which caused a whole lot of murmurs. Of course, the girls followed me.
I started with a witch laugh as I got closer. "Did you hear that, girls? Werewolves are pathetic and inferior to lycans. She feels like as a lycan, we should bow to her," I said derisively.
"Xyra, stay out of this," mum pleaded.
"We should show her what real power is all about, shall we?" Zeph said with a dramatic sway of her hips.
"Zephyr, Moira, don't…"
Ignoring my mother, I let my powerful aura out and enfold the entire hall. Everyone, every canids present crumbled to their knees. I smiled with satisfaction as the blonde looked at me with horror in her eyes, she on her knees too. I retracted the aura from everyone and dropped the weight on her head. She screamed with pain, along with her beast.
"Feel that?" I asked mockingly, crouching in front of her, "that, my little blondie, is true power and authority."
"Wh…wh…wh…"
"What am I?" I asked, I shrugged my left shoulder. "I have no idea, but I'm sure I'm a werewolf too. Next time you talk to my mother with such disrespect, I'll make you end your own life," I stood up and stepped back. "Zeph?"
Zeph stepped closer to her and blew her cold breath on the blonde. She immediately started shivering from the internal cold. Moira cracked her knuckles with an evil smirk while April laughed like a witch. I felt arms around my waist. Dad pulled me back and scratched the back of my ear to calm raging Majesty. "Okay, back up now, let her go, please, Majesty, for dad?"
"I wasn't going to kill her," I said and looked at her. "Stand up, go to your room and stay there. First thing in the morning, get the hell out of here and never show your face. By dawn, the cold will stop and you will be able to walk lightly. Moira?"
"With pleasure," Moira flicked a small bead of energy off her fingers, flicking it into the blonde to make her steps heavy. The blond stood up as she cried and started her painful journey to her room. I craned my neck to look at dad with a grin. He kissed the top of my hair and chuckle.
"That's my little warrior."
