Xyra's viewpoint
The sun had set and the night had spread her garment across the plain sky. There were no stars out tonight, but the moon was big and full. I was strolling through the forest, heading back home after Majesty went hunting. I was hyper excited and full of energy from the run and the beautiful moonlight following me.
It was way pass ten in the night. Mum and dad were already bothering me to open the mind-link so they could go parents on me. I didn't want to let them, I needed the peace alone.
Majesty was going out of her mind with joy as she paced impatiently, wagging her tail with enthusiasm, impatient and anticipation. I stopped walking at a clear field and raise my head up to the moon. A contented smile spread across my lips as his luscious scent filled the air and flowed into my nostrils and lungs. Power returned to me, powers and control I lost during my three weeks of agony. It felt good to get my powers back again.
The energy raged in me, curled my toes up and made my fingers twitch. It exploded in me, the powers broke free from the prison my depression locked it. I released the energy, letting it spiral around me in it visible colourful form. My body lit up with the energy, my hair ascending to float above my head as my irises glowed. I probably looked like I swallowed a million glow worms and had azureish white energy rising from my body like flames and the royal azure whirling around me spirally. The power pushed the grass and trees around me, bending them like a powerful wind storm. It created a hole around my feet, spreading the grass thin and flat.
I smirked as I felt him standing behind a tree, watching me. Of course, the display of power wasn't just because I needed to release the energy after being locked up, but because I wanted him to see who he was dealing with. I gathered the energy up, pulling them away from the trees, grass, from the spiral whirl and pushing them to my feet. I looked over my shoulder and winked at the lycan I couldn't see but knew he could see me.
Catch me if you can.
I dashed through the forest, flashing through trees, trunks, animals, even mountains. Majesty and I agreed to run on my two feet, because she would certainly jump him instead of running. I heard his paws behind me, the grunts and growls leaving his lips and the sounds of the obstacles he crushed to get to me. I was actually surprise he was keeping up to me, really surprise.
I looked behind me to check how close he was, but the lycan I saw made me stumble and almost fell. I managed to get back on my feet in time and continue running, switching to a zigzaggery running method. His lycan was huge! Freaking huge! I knew lycans were bigger than the other, depending on how strong they were and the family they came from, but his size was ridiculous.
What was I saying? Majesty was a giant compared to every other werewolf, because she is stronger. So maybe that was the case. His lycan wasn't any colour I had ever seen or read in any lycan record. His lycan almost looked gold, or rather was gold, the same shade of light gold as the lycan dragon tattooed to his body. The tip of his golden coat was flaming red, like the raging lava of an active volcano. The red looked so bright it almost felt like I was being dragged into a volcano. His claws shared the same shade as the tip of his coat, just like his eyes and the mane around his head and flowing down to his back. His tail was puffy and pure gold, except for the streak of the red that dwelled in the middle of the tail and covered the very end of it.
He was scary, but beautiful.
I turned my eyes back to look ahead with a wide grin. Majesty was howling and jumping, her mate was impressive too. There was no being that would be able to look into those flaming eyes and not be consumed. We loved the power radiating from him and trying to dominate us. It was a game of chase and dominance.
I took a U-turn, running towards a waterfall I already marked. He followed, and this time, he was very close behind. I enclose all the powers and sealed my scent inside me, right before diving down the waterfall and into the piercing cold water. I had the power to morph my body into liquid form and control it too. I had different kinds of hydrokinesis and with my psychokinesis, I was able to merge both powers together and manipulate my own reality and form.
My body flowed along with the gushing stream, unnoticeable and shapeless. I flowed to the side of the river and rested on a rock. I watched as he jumped down from the waterfall and landed gracefully on the dry land. His lycan looked confuse as he sniff the air and wiggled his nose. I held back the urge to giggle at the helpless sight. He walked closer to the edge of the water and began sniffing it to see if he could pick up my scent, failing of course.
It went on for minutes: me splashing the water far off, him running there and seeing that it was nothing, then returning to sniffing the water or diving in to make sure I hadn't drown or found any hidden way to escape, and then coming out to growl angrily while pacing. He didn't know which direction to take since I was scentless, which made it more fun. He could feel we were there, but didn't know where exactly. Sometimes I would release my scent a little to make him know we were really there so he wouldn't leave and ruin the fun. Then I would use the water to pick up pebbles and rock and toss it at him from different directions.
It was closing to an hour and my poor mate looked like he was going to breakdown. A chase was important to a lycan, losing meant he had to give me up for real.
The huge lycan curled himself on the ground and whimpered, burying his huge face into his equally huge paws. He was giving up. He kept shaking his head, as if he was trying to refuse the reality of losing us. I could tell that it wasn't the case. He locked the king inside his head tight, and that was why his ability was less. He needed his other half for his powers to fully open. But I knew he didn't want to release the king because he was afraid he would let us go again.
I muttered a curse when the hot red of his coat began oozing out fire like energy, a powerful one. He opened his eyes, pulling a gasp out of my lips with how much deeper his eyes had gotten. His eyes had turn gold with a little tint of it original lava red. He looked down at the water, he could see everything, including me. I wasn't under the water, so that was my escape.
I quickly slip down the rock, hiding behind it. I changed back, wrapped the water around my body so it would swallow me, and then used it to toss myself out of it. The water threw me far into the forest, enough distant from him. Immediately my feet bash into the muddy ground, I resumed my running, still keeping my scent hidden.
I was starting to panic. His new level of power was stronger. I activated mine and pushed the powers into my feet. Our race began again, but unlike the last time, I was finding it too hard to avoid him. He threw himself forward, narrowly missing me because I ducked and changed direction with a helpless scramble.
Majesty growled as she took over, ripping through my mind and body. It was the quickest we had ever shifted, and the most graceful. Immediately she was out, the battle was equal. She pushed herself to her full speed and was running as fast as lightning. The lycan roared, a furious roar that shook the forest. We could perceive the smell of fear, panic, confusion and every other from the packs we ran pass. They knew the king was chasing something strong and he was pissed.
Majesty howled with pride from the knowledge that they would soon know it was his mate who gave him one hell of a chase. Maybe some already knew because words spread very fast. Majesty took another path and was running back to our pack. Once we successfully reach father's doorstep, we officially win.
She ran into the pack, glancing behind her to see if she could spot him, but he was gone. She slowed down a little, a little bit confuse. Disappointment spread in her heart because he gave up, he left. Or maybe we were too fast. Shrugging it off, she picked up the pace. We were almost out of the forest, just few more streets to go.
Suddenly, the wind was knocked out of us and a strangled and surprised yelp left our mouth. Her body was slammed down hard on the ground, so hard it pummeled the soil below.
He caught us.
Turns out he didn't run, he used another static and maybe powers. He was standing on Majesty's back and holding her down with his paws, to show how much strength he needed to pin my powerful wolf down. Majesty growled and tried to shake him off, but his weight gave him an advantage. The struggle gathered dust and sand around us, but did nothing to help. If it was a battle, we would have gotten him off. But any move that would get him off was certainly going to hurt him and Majesty didn't want that.
For example, she had installed blades in my legs, curled blades she learnt to retract. She could draw it out and swing any leg backward, stabbing him in the process, but that wasn't acceptable. It was a chase, not a mission to assassinate. If it was up to me, I would have done it, but wolves were more passionate and caring.
If Majesty had a chance to think about it, she still wouldn't. He lowered himself completely and gently clamped his teeth down on her shoulder, his victory mark. Majesty stopped struggling and surrendered to him.
Coward.
Lycan guy got off her and howled loudly to the moon, a loud victorious howl that many far and wide probably heard. He wouldn't have won if she had just pushed him off and hurt him a little.
It was our first defeat.
