7. FIRST DAY

Blake entered the class and took the last seat at the back of the class. The class quickly filled up with students as Blake sat back and observed them, taking careful note of each of them. After everyone had entered, the class teacher, Mr. Green entered. "Well, good morning students. Welcome back from the long break. This is a fresh year and a fresh start for us all. First of all, before I move on to the matter at hand, let me introduce a new student who is joining us today. He is not an alien to this school, mind you, but rather he has obtained an ability and has been promoted to this part of the school," said Mr. Green. He motioned for Blake to come forward. "Why don't you introduce yourself and your ability to them?" said Mr. Green when Blake came forward. "I'm Blake, a resident of this city. I have an S rank ability," said Blake. He returned to his seat amidst whispers and glances from his new classmates. Mr. Green shrugged and said, "well, that's that. So for our first lesson today, we're going to learn how to hone our abilities."

"To hone means to sharpen so today, you are going to sharpen your ability skills for the rest of this week. What you're going to do is this; condense a ball of your ability essence into your palm and start thinking of how efficiently you can make use of it..." said Mr. Green. Everyone condensed a ball of their ability essence and began to meditate on how best to use it. Blake looked at the condensed ball of blue energy in his hand and began to talk to the system. "So system, with this ability, I can create anything I want, even lower lifeforms?" asked Blake. [Yes master. With creation of lifeforms, they can be at your realm and you can even infuse an element, wisdom and other human traits in them. It all comes down to how imaginative and creative you are,] replied the system. Blake nodded in thought, closing his eyes to think of the ways in which he could utilize his ability...

"What are the four of you doing out here during lesson hours, chained to a tree?" the voice of a teacher boomed, scaring Rick Porter and his cronies. "Blake did this to us sir," replied Gus, shivering from the intense aura emitted by the teacher. The teacher snorted and waved his hand, making the chains dissipate into the air. "You four are coming with me You have a lot of explaining to do!" said the teacher as he levitated the sorry four into the air and took off at a fast speed, heading for the office of the disciplinary committee.

Back in the class, Blake's eyes opened immediately as he felt that he had lost his connection to the chains he had formed to bind Rick and his cronies. He closed his eyes again as he didn't really care what happened to them. His focus right now was to create a lower lifeform. About 2 hours later, Mr.Green made them come forward to demonstrate their insights on their ability. A blue haired girl was first. She demonstrated how she now had obtained insight in her ability, Bubbles. She now could make the ground slippery with her ability, to cause her opponents to slip and fall. Next, a red haired boy came forward and demonstrated how he could now control his fire ability in mid air. Again, one other boy came forward and demonstrated how he could use his ability of Size Manipulation to dodge his opponents' attacks. Very soon, it was Blake's turn. Without saying anything, Blake walked forward and turned his blue energy into a sword. He threw it forward and it turned into a dagger in mid air, split into five and struck the class wall at five different places. The class clapped for him and Blake returned to his seat. "You've all done well. It's time for lunch so you can head over to the cafeteria for your food, after lunch you have science," said Mr Green, leaving the class. The students also trickled out of the class for their lunch.

Blake joined the steady stream of students heading to the cafeteria and that was when he noticed that everyone seemed to be avoiding him but he didn't think much about it. He went for his lunch and went to the Science class straight after. Even though abilities had emerged, Science and technology had not been ignored and efforts were made to combine them with the abilities in the world. The science teacher was a bald man with hawk eyes who droned on and on about the emergence of new elements and their uses in the ability era. Now, due to the emergence of abilities, more than 60 new elements had been discovered by humans and new ones were still being discovered. Popular among the new elements were Davross, the current strongest metal and Ridgen, the most reactive gas. Blake listened to all this with interest as he hoped in the near future, he would be able to make his ability as strong as Davross or even as light as Ridgen.

The class ended and it was the closing of school. Blake pocketed and left the class immediately the intercom rang for closing. Still, students were avoiding Blake like a plague but Blake didn't know and didn't care until he found a group of six boys with Elliot, waiting for him outside the school. Blake shook his head and sighed. This Elliot was really looking for trouble and if it was trouble he wanted, he would get it!
