''Then, make me understand,'' Archer's voice was low yet deep as if he could see right through her soul, ''What is it that scares you so much?" his jaws clenched as he asked her but he did not shake off her hands which were crumpling the material of his suit within their grasp.

At the sound of his cold voice, Elvina realized that she just lost it in front of him. She inhaled a deep breath, trying to calm herself down.

But then she heard him speak again, ''Don't try to act like you are fine now,'' he whispered, probably conscious of their public image or something. There was a moment of silence between them before he continued, ''I am not fond of it when you pretend.''

Elvina's lips parted. She wanted to say that she rarely pretended when she was with him, that she has been real to him except for a few times when she dodged some discussions or a few half-truths that she told him.
