"Can I meet them on my own? There is something that I need to talk to them about. I don't want you to see them yet." Hazel then tried to explain this. It was not because she didn't want him to meet them, but she thought she didn't want him to be dragged into this unnecessary family drama.

However, Micah beat her to it and then kissed her temple to reassure her. "I understood," he said before she could offer further explanation. "I will be in my office, I will be here if you need me."

And from the corner of her eyes, Hazel saw Gillian walking into the dining room in his grey beast form. She recognized him almost immediately.

Most of the humans wouldn't be able to see shifters in their beast form. So with this, Hazel wouldn't be alone while facing her family. At same time, she would have Gillian around her to help her if the situation got out of hand real fast.
