Hazel has died and even though his mind told him to let go, his heart told him to hold on.

"Come and try it," Hazel said, smiling so bright, but the beta's frown only deepened. "Don't be shy. You will love it. This is not that bad," she teased him because he didn't want to try the pudding she made.

Hazel just happened to feel like trying her hand at making this pudding. Of course, it was not exclusively for Jaxon. But since the royal beta loved sweet things, it wouldn't hurt to give him some, right? So, he wouldn't have to give her such a face.

Probably, if she was lucky, it would even melt his heart a little.

Since Hazel stayed at home, under the pretext that her parents died and she needed to attend the funeral, the office gave her one week off.

That was such a horrible excuse, even knowing that her parents were still alive, but just like Micah, she no longer cared about any of them.
