THE CEREMONY (4)

From afar, the bell rang throughout the city once again, indicating that the ceremony for the queen and the king was concluded.

When Hazel glanced at Micah, she squinted her eyes at the red and inflamed welt on his left shoulder. The burns from it formed into a symbol. It was as if he had been branded with that symbol.

And the symbol that was seared onto his very shoulder resembled an hourglass.

It was an intricate design. Though she was sure it was an hourglass, it could be seen as a sword as well. Was there any meaning behind it?

Surely, Hazel would ask about this later.

But for now, she was too overwhelmed with the commotion below her and all the things that happened in the span of one hour. Her head felt a little bit dizzy with all of this.

It was only Micah's hand holding onto hers that gave a sense of assurance she needed the most at a time like this.
