Hazel has died and even though his mind told him to let go, his heart told him to hold on.

Jaxon was perplexed to see how well Hazel endured this journey. Even though this was the first time for her to do this, she didn't complain to them at all, not even about the sleeping arrangements or about the food that she had to eat.

"Where is Micah?" Hazel asked Jaxon because the royal beta kept standing at his spot, without saying anything and made it a little bit awkward for her.

"The king is having a meeting with some people from the village." The fact that the plague only affected someone with power meant Hazel would be fine, since she didn't wield any power like a shifter or witch.

This was the sole comfort for Micah to take her with them, but it was not enough for Jaxon, since he thought by bringing this girl with them would only make the matter about the plague look so ridiculous and not serious enough.

Who would bring a weak woman to an area affected by a dangerous disease?
