Do They Even Care?

Layla threw her legs into a pair of jean trousers and threw a hoodie over her head. She needed to leave the house, she grid back the tears that welled in her eyes as she slipped on her favorite crocs slippers.

She could still hear her parents shouting at each other. It's a good thing they don't have any neighbors, if not they would hear their voices by now and call 911 thinking there was a war going on.

At this rate, she was tempted to make the call herself.

Why can't her parents live together peacefully for once? Why do they have to constantly argue and fight? And if they were so unhappy living with each other, why won't they just get a divorce like the rest of the 50% of couples out there? And save each the misery of remaining married, herself included.

She was sure even their staff were tired of her parent's constant fighting. But none of them would dare say a word about it to anyone outside, they knew the consequences of doing that were grave.
