They Don't Care

The next day Layla kept anticipating her parent's visit.

All morning she waited and they didn't show up, it was evening already and they were yet to still show up. It was almost as if they had forgotten that she exists.

Sarah keeps telling her that her parents had called to check up on her when she was asleep, but Layla knew that was a lie. Sarah was only saying that so she didn't feel abandoned.

She doesn't even know why she is bothered. Maybe it's because she is trying to convince a part of her that she wasn't forgotten and that she means something to her parents.

"Why are you looking so sad? Would you like me to call the doctor?" Sarah Layla's housekeeper asked with concern when she noticed the sad look on Layla's face.

"No, don't call the doctor," Layla winced when she tried to change to a more comfortable position.

"I know you are in pain, I'm sorry, I wish there is something I could do to help," Sarah said.
