She Is A Monster

"Is it just I or your mother doesn't seem to like me?" Trevor said to Maddie as they lay in bed later that night to sleep. Maddie's mom was already sleeping in the guest room.

"I don't think you are the problem," Maddie said with a sigh. "She has been a little bit cranky since she ran into Mason's stepmom at the grocery store."

Trevor tilted his head to the side to have a better look at Maddie whose head was on his chest.

"She met Mason's stepmom at the grocery store?"

"Yes, I saw them talking. My mom says she used to work at Mason's house some years ago, as a chef while Mason's stepmom was the housekeeper."

"Wow, are you for real?"

"I was shocked to hear about it myself. I remember my mom once worked as a chef sometimes when I was little before we relocated out of the city, but I didn't know it was for the Taylors."

"It's a small world indeed," Trevor said. "So why then has she been cranky since after she ran into Deb?"
