Mason vaguely remembered his father started acting harshly towards him around that period after they got back from that trip. That was the last trip they ever went on as a family.

"Was that why you started treating me harshly?" Mason asked even if he already knew the answer.

"Yes, every time I looked at you I saw betrayal, lies. Do you know what it means to think a child is yours only for you to find out he is a product of your wife's love affair?"

"But you also lied, you cheated too. You were having an affair with Deb under my mother's roof. Who are you to judge?"

"It's different."

Mason chuckled. It's pathetic how he is trying to justify his shortcomings.
