Hayato intermission [2]

Hayato's group also joined the shooting. He ordered the group to prioritize the leg of the monster, and his two friends did just that. Still, these shots don't help much considering that they are just a young hunter with minimum experience. Shooting in a moving vehicle does not come to them naturally.

But there's an outliner among them.

Hayato has hit the monster in the leg five times consecutively, making the monster feel something. And they can see that the ruin tracker has slowed down. Being a veteran hunter himself, Bonza can see that the kid's group is doing work.

'Damn. I thought it was just a rumor, but that's indeed a rising star if I have ever seen one. '

With Hayato's shot, they were able to gain some distance from the creature. But this alone is not enough.

"Ezmo! Did you put out the SOS request!? "

"Yes! I did. They say that they are on their way! "

"Can't they be faster!?"

"They can't teleport, you know!"

"I wish they could do that."

"We would be working all our lives to pay the debt if they used something like that to save our asses."

"True"

The situation has only gotten worse. All the shooting they did attract a pack of wasteland dogs from the other side. They are blocking the way back to the city.

"....We've got more company this time at the front"

"SH*t"

Getting chased by a ruin tracker is bad enough. Getting cornered by a wasteland dog while getting chased by a ruintracker is even worse!

If they change the truck's direction now, it would be able to avoid the wasteland dog, but their recuser would have a harder time finding them. With every second counting to their death, they don't want to do that.

"Drive through the wasteland, dog Ezmo-san! We could hold it! "

Hayato shouts at Ezmo to ride through it. surprising everyone in the truck. Ezmo looks back to check if the kid got hit in the head, but all he sees is a determination in Hayato's eyes. A smile perks up on Ezmo's face.

"Let's go then! Bonza, we're going back to the old days! "

"What!?"

The truck picks up more speed than before. It bashes through some of the wasteland dogs, but some cling to the truck. Chiyo and Hayato's friends shoot down some of the dogs, but many are still left standing. Hayato joins Bonza at the top of the truck and starts shooting the dogs off of it.

Meanwhile, the ruin tracker is closing in faster than before due to the truck slowing down. The dog's swarm got bigger and bigger with each passing minute until the truck couldn't move anymore. It's now in the worst position possible.

Ezmo didn't expect the wasteland dogs to call in more packs. Usually, they don't like another pack of wasteland dogs, but this time they seem to be working together. When Ezmo sees that he can't drive any further, he decides to make his last stand here.

He punches the dogs and gets on the truck roof. killing more dogs in the process. They don't have time for small talk. The sound of guns and bullets will just cover it.

The situation is not all bad. The ruin tracker that got closer got distracted by the dogs and started chewing on it while some of the dogs tried to fight the newcomer.

"We're running out of ammo!"

Bonza reloads his last magazine and shoots at the dogs trying to climb on top. They're running low on ammo and the only thought running through their minds is "this is the end." They have no way out and a ruined tracker that is about 10 seconds away from reaching them. The rescuer is nowhere in sight, and the dogs don't seem to stop coming.

In a surprise move, Hayato jumps on the ruin tracker while it's eating the wasteland dogs. He clung to its neck and pumped his rifle bullet into it at a very close range. This maneuver causes some damage to the ruin tracker. The skin around its neck has been pierced due to a repeating shot in the same area.

It tried to get Hayato off by wildly swinging its own head, but Hayato clung to it with all his strength. He shot at it more and more. Green blood starts flowing out and the creature screams in pain, startling the wasteland dogs. They changed their main target to the ruins tracker after seeing that it was in pain.

The hoard of wasteland dogs is no joke. In only 5 seconds, the ruined tracker's leg has been pierced by the wasteland dogs.

Hayato lost all his strength after struggling on the ruin tracker neck for a while. He deals enough damage to it to change the target.

His group clears the way for him, making a circle around where he lands. Chiyo starts crying while holding off the wasteland dogs.

"Hayato, it's nice to know you."

Yeah, me too. This is the end... We survived."

"What?"

Right on Hayato's word, a blue tube has landed about 10 meters away from them. Luring all the wasteland dogs to it. It's a female wasteland dog's pheromone that has been heavily modified so it can attract the male wasteland dogs. It blows up a moment later. Wiping out most of the wasteland dogs present. And the main threat, the ruins tracker, got its head blown off by a high-power sniper rifle.

The situation went from bad to good in a matter of seconds. This is what a well-prepared and skilled hunter operates. Getting the situation under control.

From afar, a truck can be seen running toward them. They're the rescuers that come after they receive the SOS signal.

"It looks like the situation is under our control now."

Sitting on top of the van with her sniper. Cherry is a veteran hunter that takes the SOS request with her crew. But the situation is more amusing than they originally thought. Because the one she's helping is one of the young hunters in her gang.

"HAHAHA! You lost this one again. "

"Shut up!"

Moro laughs as he wins another bet with his captain, Cherry. The bet is that if Hayato's group goes all day without encountering any trouble, she wins, but otherwise, he wins. And this time, Moro wins again.

"You kept losing these easy bets. Cherry, you really suck at these bets.."

"I say shut up!!! before I shot you in the head! "

"Calm down, you too. Moro, don't provoke her any further, and Cherry, don't make a stupid bet next time, okay?"

"tch"/"hm"

The two stop bickering when Max, their driver, intervenes. But they still send glares at each other. They arrive at the one who sent the SOS request.

Ezmo, upon seeing that it's is the rescue team from Frenzy, almost wants to drive away and leave for another city, but it's too late.

"Oh my, it looks like we've got some trouble here."

Cherry was clearly pissed off at the bet she lost. She fully intended to use the contract as an excuse to vent her rage at Ezmo.
