Hunter guild

Cherry has completed her objective of scouting the area. Finding a ruin tracker in these parts of the ruin where new hunters would go is a huge problem. She has to report her to find to the hunter's office.

The van travels back after completing its objective. Along the way, they drive past a green line and circle around the city. This is a petrol line where the hunter guild issues a patrol request to be dispatched. This creates a sense of security for the people that live in O'ruma City.

The group finally reached the slum part of the outer walls, and Vero could smell this familiar stench of trash, iron, and mold. The group quickly passed through this area and arrived at a rather clean part of the slum city.

Despite being part of the outer wall, this part of the city is cleaner than others because of how close to the wall it is. The closer you are, the more law enforcers of the inner walls can be seen managing the peace.

This is the safest place outside of the walls and also a place where only important gangs would occupy this space. The reason that the inner wall people enforce some laws on the outer walls is simple. They don't want any rats near their house, even if they can't get in.

The Cherry group arrives at the walls. The forty-meter walls look as mighty and imposing as ever. Giving the surrounding area its protection and a safe place. Vero looks up to see some station turrets and people patrolling the walls with a rail system vehicle that is attached to a wall.

'This thing is really big, but not as big as the Dumo tower, but it's still big'

Cherry explains that they need to keep the city in check with their naked eyes for an emergency hack or monster that can cloak itself on camera. The camera and other cybernetic eyes could be fooled easily if their software is faulty.

Hackers are a job that is booming in popularity due to the high pay rate and demand. They are hired to hack into a faulty robot, an old-world relic, or to counter the opposing hacker.

Another line of work that they could do is to develop software for cyborgs to use. The harder it is to hack, the more desirable the hacker is. For their own convenience, they generalize people who work in cyberspace as hackers, and the word "cyber engineer" has been lost to time.

Their destination is this building, positioned inside the walls next to a giant gate. The thing is easily 20 meters in height with a 30-meter length. The vehicle that often uses this gate is an inner wall VIP or a voyage from another city. Passing through the wasteland requires that much protection.

Vero couldn't imagine anything that used a door that big.

The group enters the building and is greeted with a wood-gold aesthetic. It's been decorated with a tint of old world-building and their own dark wood decoration. Creating a bar atmosphere for the hunters to rest. They have this atmosphere because this place also doubles as a bar for the hunters to celebrate their hunt.

It was bustling with all kinds of people. He could easily get lost in this place.

"Look! There's the counter..."

Cherry is taking Vero through all the processes that a hunter does to make a living. First, they had to talk to the receptionist to get their hunting licenses. This process takes only a few seconds if you have the right connection. After registering, you have to buy a hunter terminal to start taking requests.

Second, you have to choose what job you want to do. There are a ton of requests on the hunter terminal which require different conditions, like being a cyborg or having a high hunter rank.

After you've done the quest that you selected, you could bring back the evidence through video recorded in the hunter terminal. Then you get the money! It's that simple.

However, this job also has a low survival rate. Every time you're out in the wasteland, you're risking your own safety for money. A lot of people perish in the face of greed and the promise of a better life.

'Must have been rough.'

Again, with all this information dumped Vero got used to it from the A.I. that always gives him a long description of the thing he asks for

"So Vero, are you interested in joining the Frenzy guild?"

"Cherry, we can't do that."

"But...."

"Do you want him to get caught in the infighting?"

"Well, you have a point. Sorry Vero. I'll buy you some stuff instead. "

From the conversation, he could gather that there was something happening in their gangs.

"There's no need to apologize; getting me out of the ruin is a huge favor from you guys."He didn't care about joining a gang that much, considering that his last gang was not so kind to him.

"If you say so. I will just have you register for a hunter job then. "

A hunter's job has no price of entry, but to really become a hunter, you've got to earn a hunter's terminal first. Otherwise, people won't take you seriously. This is the first rite of passage for young aspiring hunters to become veterans or expert hunters.

Normally, people with connections can pass through this process easier, but slum kids like Vero don't have it that easy. The hunter terminal is a sheet of metal and electronics that cost a total of 200,000 tels. For reference, a cheap nutrient bar that Vero has been eating in the slum only costs 300 tels a pack, and that thing can last him a whole week.

Normally, Vero would have to start at the bottom, working as a relic collector, assisting the hunter, and getting scrap out of the job. But Vero got a head start from Cherry. She assists him in getting a hunter's license and buying a terminal.

Vero is eternally grateful for this and vows to help her if he gets the chance.

"Oh! Our gang just called. See you later, Vero. I hope that you didn't die out there in the ruins! "

Cherry and her crew wave him goodbye, and he smiles back.

'I guess not everyone is that bad or I've been on the wrong side of the city. '

"Number 56, please head to room number 6 for relic examination."

Vero brings his plastic bag to the table to sell the goods that should make him a fortune.
