Teyo stared at his class menu in awe. He wholeheartedly had already looked over the fact that he threw in the experience gem. Not only did cooking it work but even though the food was... Dishwasher tiered, it still gave him enough experience to level. And not only that but his stats now includes mana, and the new skill, and an experience bar? He thought back to the previous encounters. He... He never dealt the killing blow so he never got a gatcha or drop from anything, maybe he got lucky with the bat? But the others would have told him about the things they got in their menus wait.. no they didn't, Jack always referred to things by saying "the rule book" . No one said much outside of their ability, not their stats or really anything at all in concise terms. How much did someone have to learn alone? Was he that braindead... Teyo realized at that moment. He's not only been a fool, but also he should really read the rule book, skipping it seemed like such a blunder now...

His mind traced it back to the sign up rule. It was the rule that stated you can't speak in specifics unless to your guild members, on your friends list, which was basically after level 100. No one was going to hold anyone else's hand. That was apparent day one and the hopes of camaraderie had been crushed. It will always be in his best interest to turn inward with information and help. This hurt Teyo hard. He had wanted to play a game with friends or to make them, but with these circumstances he would inevitably need to be careful every step of the way until level 100. Only then could he solidify a standing amongst friends, or at least powerful like-minded allies. A guild. He honed in on the thought. "I've got to pick and choose, and only then will knowledge come and go."

Determined and with haste Teyo called up his clock. 3:56

"Just under four hours. Then I gotta get off for a day. Hmm. I wonder if I can catch up."

....

" Ahaha yeah then the dude ate a baby cactus, freaking absurd!" Dorian bellowed around the campfire

" haha what the heck " Sadira chuckled under her breath.

" sounds.. painful.. " Jack said twirling his finger in the sand.

Reilly neither laughed nor played into any emotion on the topic. Recalling silly videos they'd seen online didn't seem to interest her. Since the group had pressed on from the pond her timidity had come back pretty strong. She couldn't help but feel guilty leaving Teyo behind.

Noticing her a bit aloof and silent Jack stood up and gave her a pat on the shoulder. " Hey, you doing alright? Don't let what happened hold you back. Things like this are going to happen and rather than be hung up on it I'm sure Teyo is rooting for us in his new character. It's not going to get easier. How's your mana looking now?"

Reilly looked up to him listening. She couldn't shake the feeling in her stomach. Everyone had been so quick to give up and continue on and when she voiced her concerns they dismissed her, saying it was to late he's a goner. They could see his pulsing red tint, a tell tale sign someone was at less than 5% health according to Jack. Even though Teyo helped a lot and the few bats they fought since we're a bit of a challenge, ultimately they still had their roles filled. " 3 points left. If I meditate a bit more I should be able to get another point.."

"No, I think we've waited long enough. The next checkpoint has to be close we've been moving for a few hours. We need to reach it by our timers. If not we will get bumped back to the previous one and everything respawns by tomorrow." Jack interrupted her and explained.

" Well I have only been following the main path. We could just move faster but I think you guys should worry more about her speed." Dorian said pointing to Reilly.

"Think you can move a bit faster or you want to get on my shoulders?"

Reilly grew flush red. " No I don't thank you, and I'm sorry but the dress is a bit hard to walk it, not to mention these! " Reilly lifted her dress just a bit and revealed two inch wedges. She gripped the back of her heel and scowled back at him. " Why don't you try walking through here in these thing for this long!....."

Everyone grew quiet and then breaking the silence Jack burst into laughter, after a moment wiping tears from his eyes he spoke with patterned breathes " Oh my gosh haha... Well you should have said something sooner I guess, with that it makes sense.. In any case let's go we have to beat the clock."

Everyone began to grab up their things, Sadira came over and gestured at Reilly to hand over her shoes. After a quick tug the wedges well pulled from her shoes and then the pair were handed back to her. With a quick nod Sadira then went over the the fire and pulled out a limb of wood and kicked dirt over as if to put the rest out. Snuffing the rest out and picking up the then small pieces of scrap wood to place in her backpack a small fold of bat wing fell out and onto the ground spilling it's contents a fair share of experience gems fell on the ground. Reilly quickly went over to help meanwhile Dorian and Jack just gave each other a side eye.

.....

Fumbling his small box of around Teyo had neatly partitioned it a bit with a couple strips of bat wing. The separation and gentle padding helped his once lunch box style sling into a psuedo bento style box at it's present standing.

He had only began to fiddle with it as the path he had been on, that was only waist high, at a certain point bloomed into a extremely wide and tall breeze way. The natural formation made this seem like it had once been a stream, the flow and formations as if over time the water level dropped to the point it is now, bone dry.

If only to stop the gentle knocking of the slime stones, the organization also helped dull the long walk through the winding corridor. After what felt like forever the sounds of rushed footsteps and the flicker of flame echoed in front of Teyo, slowing him to a snails pace, he quickly hugged the wall. With the passing of the steps he peeked his head around the corner and watched as the small flames bounced along in the now cavernous exit to the hallway. Trying to getting a better view of what it was that passed he squinted. Looking at the back of the small creatures he immediately sunk in place. it was a small pack of goblins. The three long eared, green skin, and tattered rag garbed munchkins wove through the caves rocky flooring with a gentle ease. Teyo watched until the flame seemed to disappear in perhaps another corridor.

" Shit. There's no way I kill three goblins did they have weapons? Damn I didn't get a good look. Okay think.. What did they have when Klaw fought them. Daggers? Spears? I think he totally just skipped passed them all right, after that kid sacrificed himself. hmmm.. "

Teyo slapped his cheeks in a way to psyche himself up and then summoned his menu. He clicked on his mailbox and accepted the reward of his Bat leathers. At which they seemed to just materialize in front of him on the ground. He then wore them swapping out of his basic shirt and thin pants. The tight fitting leather felt quite nice the way it was snug on him. The cape flowed off his back to the back of his knee as well as draping up over his shoulders to his elbows. The hood it had just barely covered his face without hindering his peripheral vision.

All in all it was quite luxurious compared to what he had. Using a couple strips of bat wing he tied a notch through the waist on his side like a belt loop and used it as a new placement for his knife. He then brandished the small novice axe in it's stead. Teyo swung the pan and axe for a moment trying to figure out which felt better to swing. Even though the axe felt good the feeling of swinging the pan, which he had done all this time, seemed to have that much more familiarity. He put the axe on his back with another long strap of batwing as a makeshift sling. Looking at what he had left and making good use of time he cut into the rest long strips and large sections for folds. He cut into his old pants for string and thinner strips of cloth for bindings. With everything said a done, a very crude drawstring sack was made. Complete with his old pants on the inside as a liner. In went the small chest box, the remaining but few tattered strips of wing, and large slime ball. Without leaving to much on the ground and no longer having to shoulder a bundle of bat he used what he couldn't fit in his sack and made a thin braid of rope only about 6 foot long. Unfortunately he felt it's actual use was rather poor because it still has a decent stretch to it as the skin was still rather fresh. Coiling it up and wearing it like a mantle he gave himself a rather decent look over and felt a good sense of pride.

He checked the clock again 2:24

He expected this time he used as as preparation to hinder him from getting to the next check point, so rather then dally any further he followed behind in the same path the goblins took. The benefit of the dark vision proved to be that much more useful again to Teyo. Not only could he creep in the darkness rather than a flame lit target but he could also see the steps the goblins took so following them was quite easy.

After following for a few minutes Teyo reached an area that seemed to have many track of goblin feet back and forth in all directions. There was a narrow passageway just in front of him but he noticed down the other section of this wall was just a small alcove of stalagmites that seemed to wall off the section from the remainder of the cavern floor. He went in that direction to see why the tracks left that way we're so numerous. Very quickly he found out, as his nose was assaulted by the pungent smell of dried pee and moist poop. Without even bothering to tred further he quickly turned around. But then paused as the quick shuffling of feet could be heard again and the passageway shined gently with the torchlight.

The goblin's came back.
