seven.

"O-Oh my god, he's gonna die isn't he?! How's he alive? Please, please save him!" I went to grab onto Darius pale body but the nurses of the clinic had held me back.

For some reason he shifted back into his human form and that's when I heard his faint heartbeat. "Ma'am, we're going to do everything we can for your friend. Just stay calm!" The female nurse says caressing my shoulders.

I tried to calm myself down but I couldn't breathe.

"Sa-ave him.." I whispered as I felt myself losing consciousness. I edged back a bit. Seeing Darius being carried behind the doubled door was the last thing I saw before everything went dark.

Two days later, Tobian Pov

Those brown eyes haunted me for the past two days. Where the hell had this girl come from?

When my eyes connected with hers all I saw was puddles of fear and everything in me had wanted to protect her.

She was fucking gorgeous.

She had beautiful brown skin and full round lips that I found myself wanting to taste for hours and hours of the day.

"Alpha, I'm glad I caught you before you left." My nurse says from behind me breaking me from my thoughts.

Turning around to face her, "Is there something wrong with the girl?" I asked while my heart had sped up a little faster.

"I can't believe she's still alive." My nurse says to me. I watch her shake a bit as her fingers barely grips the white clipboard she was holding.

My head tilts not knowing what the hell she meant by that. "You have to translate your statement, Miss Brooks. I don't speak in riddles." I said in a deep tone.

She glares at the floor and shakes her head. "She had a seizure before we sedated her. It's not something I've seen before but, some kind of black liquid foamed from her mouth. Me and my team have done some research and the results had said-

"Tyrin." We both had spoke. The nurse's eyes widen.

"Two nights ago I was sleeping peacefully in my bed, I heard a scream from one of my maids. I went downstairs and my maid was dead. Her eyes were gone...they were filled black liquid called Tyrin. It was then I knew these things had returned."

I took a few steps back and ran a hand through my brown locks. My father's words had haunted me.

Could he possibly be telling the truth about the Chainsmen? What if it was just another one of his tricks?

And this woman..? Where the hell did she come from? Ever since my eyes connected with hers, I felt something inside that in a million years I thought I never would have felt.

I pushed the thought of her out of my mind. Once she and her friend is in better terms I'll send them on their way.

"Emett, meet me in my office." I ordered him through mind-link.

His response was quick. "Headed that way now."

I was going to get down to the bottom of all of this.

And I was starting with my father.

Before I could turn on my heel my nurse had stopped me in my tracks as she reaches for my arm. "Alpha, what do we do about her friend?"

My wolf let's out a deep growl. For some reason he didn't like the mention of the word friend.

"Ours." My beast growled.

"Uh, update me when either is awake. I'll be needing answers as to why they were out in my woods together." I told her calmly before I marched away with a set jaw.

What the hell is going on with me?

-

I watched as two of my guards burst through my office and that caused my father to jump up out of his seat. "What is the meaning of this?" My father spat out. The guards stepped on the side of my father and grabbed his arms.

I chuckled.

He was not going to get out of this. The moment he stepped foot on my land again my pack haven't been more afraid.

"I'm sorry there's been a change in the plans you had, father." I say as I stepped towards him slowly. I realized I didn't know what the actual truth was but there was one thing that I realized and it was that my father couldn't be trusted.

My father shows up out of the blue and not a moment with later two strangers and all fucking hell breaks loose.

Some small part of me wonders how many times it took them to rehearse this scheme. Was these small emotions for this woman apart of it?

Either way it went, I couldn't let the witch kill her.

Not while I still needed answers.

And trust me as soon as she opens her eyes she's going to wake up to a walking nightmare.

Having my father locked up was one of the safest thing for my pack. He looks as if I had slapped him across the face. "Tobian, son, you listen to me you're in grave danger. You need me, I-"

"I need you?" I bit out. "If there's one thing that I've realized these last few years is that I haven't needed you for a very long time." My eyes held his for a few moments before he started struggling in the guards' hold.

"Tobian. You're making a mistake and we're running out of time. You have to get the girl-" he started but I cut him off with a loud growl that echoed off the walls.

"I will deal with the girl the way I see fit. If your whore and whoever that boy is has any dealings with you, all three of you are going to regret coming into my land and causing my pack to be afraid. You know our kind wants nothing to do with witches. That's another problem I have to fucking worry about." I rumbled.

At that moment, I regret letting Emett not killing him. That shit my father spat earlier about the whole "Chainsmen" story almost had me.

"Why can't you for once put your pride aside! Of course your pack should be afraid son if you're not telling them what the fuck is going on!"

"These are my people! What I do or don't tell them is my god damn choice not yours." I bit out harshly.

My father scoffed in returned. "Your choices are what's going to get them killed. The girl you found in the woods, it's her isn't it?"

My eyes connected with his.

My father blows out a breath of frustration. "Not every being, son. These things have been around for hundreds of years. Twenty-one years ago I lost two close friends of mine because of a mistake I made. They were expecting a little girl, I..I thought the little child was dead because these monsters that were after her stopped appearing."

"I know it's her I can see it in your eyes, she's the only one who can stop this war from happening. Son, you need the both of us." He had pleaded desperately.

I ignored him taking a few steps backward to Emett's side. I nodded towards my gaurds ordering them to take my father away. "Unhand me, damn you! Tobian, you don't know what you're doing!"

"Put him in one of my rooms." I whispered to Emett. "See that he gets comfortable in the east wing."

Emett's face had fell. "You're kidding? After the shit he just pulled? You can't just-"

"I can't just what?" I asked getting in his face.

I was getting tired of people testing my patience. "Do you trust him?" He asked me while his eyes were searching mine.

"I just need you to do this for me." He stepped back and bowed his head before leaving my office. Emett was my brother but he knew there were certain limits. He should never forget who he's talking to.

I sat back into my office chair placing my head in both my hands. All of a sudden, I couldn't breathe. That scent had hit my nostrils again, flooding into my head.

The scent smelled of coca butter and honey. I raised my head at the doorway and there stood the female that I've so desperately at the moment wanted to be close to.

I rose up from the chair. My eyes connected with hers while my wolf Alri, rises to the surface. "Mate." He growled out.

She steps towards me slowly, her eyes that were filled with lust had been replaced with a cold stare. "Where is Darius?"
