"Understood Miss Saya" Taking the piece of cloth with trembling hands, Satooji quickly put it in a small glass jar he took out of his clothes and asked respectfully "I'll be going now, do you need anything else?"
"Could you get me books on the history of these factions?"
"That wouldn't be a problem."
"Good" Nodding, Saya looked sideways and thought 'Next month I will have to order supplies... seeds, food, clothes and everything else you need... what else can I ask for?'
With a twinkle in her eye, Saya looked at Satooji and asked "How do you guys learn your magic?"
"Demon magic?"
"Yes."
"Generally it's instinctive" Forming a small dark sphere in his hand, Satooji continued "But how to form magic circles, seals, protective fields and everything else that is considered basic, you need the help of demonic magic books."
"Are they difficult to get?"
"Not at all, in fact you can get them anywhere within hell" Shaking his head, Satooji continued "But obviously this is the most basic aspect, each great family has their own knowledge with deeper magic and according to the type of power they have"
"Can you bring me as many books on demonic magic as you can find? Feel free to take money from the proceeds to buy them."
"I'll make sure to bring you everything I can find" Nodding quickly, Satooji looked at his watch and spoke "I should be going Miss Saya..."
"Alright, good luck" Nodding, Saya looked at Satooji silently for a few seconds and commented "I hope you don't have any cloudy ideas, it wouldn't be a problem to go find you in hell with Rias' help."
"D-don't worry, I'm a demon but that doesn't mean I don't have honor" With a serious face, Satooji raised his hand and formed a magic circle on his feet "See you later Miss"
"See you later" Watching as Satooji and the furs beside her disappear, Saya finally sighed and turned to the girls in the distance "Did you hear that?"
"It was a good idea to hide Fenrir's name" Nodding with a serious face, Yuriko replied.
"Who knew this world would be so troubled" Lying lazily on the ground, Yuuki commented.
"But isn't it also a great opportunity?" yawning, Rika continued "All the factions fight like cats and dogs, while persecuting anyone who doesn't follow their stupid fights or have friendships with the other factions."
"I don't see the opportunity in that" Cocking her head to the side, Shizuka muttered.
"Wouldn't it be easy to create our own faction with people who don't care about that fighting or just want to live in peace outside of their factions?" smiling slightly, Rika continued "Making a safe place in this forest and forming our own kingdom is certainly possible and sounds entertaining."
"At the same time it would give us the numerical security we need to resist those factions" Looking up at the ceiling, Rika continued "A completely neutral faction outside of the murky dramas in their homes."
"Do you know how tedious it is to manage so many people?" Raising her eyebrows, Yuriko continued "Homes, food, basic needs, health, among many other things, it's totally exhausting and boring."
"But at the same time it would help us to have a voice among so many people and conflicts" Frowning slightly, Saya continued "We already know that the world outside this place is in chaos... we don't know if publicly, since they apparently still run a society with money like the dollar, but that does not detract from the fact that they are gods, angels, demons and various races that appear to be powerful... it won't be easy if they make an invasion to retake the forest, even if they are totally weakened"
"And no doubt Fenrir won't allow them to enter the bossque" Nodding, Kiriko commented while yawning "It's obvious that their territory will continue to grow and sooner or later it will anger the people who have interests in this place. I don't find it a bad idea to form a kingdom that we can use to our advantage."
"*Sigh* I don't know..." Shaking her head knowing full well how difficult it is to control so many people, Yuriko murmured, then looked towards Saya and continued seriously "But we can talk about that later, we have another matter to deal with instead."
Instantly lowering her head as she felt Yuriko's piercing gaze, Saya murmured "I know.... It was my mistake."
"No, apparently you don't understand" Shaking her head, Yuriko approached Saya and gently caressed her face "My daughter... have you ever tried to really understand Fenrir?"
"Of course I have" Frowning slightly, Saya looked up and continued "Isn't it obvious?"
"Honey... what you did was adapt and learn to appreciate his personality... but it seems you never understood" Smiling softly, Yuriko continued "Why do you think Fenrir acted like that today?"
"I-isn't it out of jealousy?"
"You think Fenrir is someone jealous?" laughing softly, Yuriko shook her head and continued "Think about it more deeply... how would you feel if I invited someone home and that person starts insulting you for no reason and causing chaos?"
"Obviously I would be angry..."
"For Fenrir the situation is not very different... a man arrived and spread his hormones all over the area directly slapping Fenrir and his sense of smell... he was not angry for being jealous, he was angry for an offense that for any territorial being, represents an insult."
"And did you see his face when he realized that you never understood him?"
"..." Recalling the moments, Saya lowered her gaze and murmured "He looked angry..."
"He was sad honey, much sadder than angry" Shaking her head, Yuriko continued "How do you think he would feel knowing that someone he values so much doesn't even understand him? Have you ever thought about how much he has done to understand us? Learning the language, giving up a lot of his customs, learning about society and so much more... he's been trying for years to understand us and changing..."
"But while he struggles every day, the people he considers important don't take the slightest effort in trying to think how he would feel.... How would you feel in his position?"
"..." Biting her lips, Saya analyzed for a few seconds and sighed, then dropped her shoulders and muttered "I guess I got carried away..."
"It's okay" Smiling softly, Yuriko stroked Saya's hair and continued "You're still young and it's normal that you don't understand this kind of situations very much, but the important thing is that you know how to recognize your mistakes in time and know how to act accordingly, don't ignore them and pretend nothing happened."
"Yes mom..."
"She's like a little girl" Chuckling, Yuuki commented.
"*Sigh* When I scold Rei it always ends up in fights" Shaking her head, Kiriko continued "She ends up screaming, I scream louder, then she screams and finally she ends up crying"
"M-mom!" poking her phoenix head up from the roof, Rei stammered in embarrassment.
With all spoken, Yuriko turned her gaze toward the cave entrance and muttered "Fenrir... he must be hunting."
"Saeko must be with him, don't worry" Smiling slightly, Shizuka continued "Among all of us she's the one who literally gets to feel how he feels, so she'll know how to comfort him."
"Mn..." Nodding, Yuriko sighed and stretched her body "Let's rest for today, I don't know what time it is but I'm feeling pretty exhausted"
"I already want a month to pass so I can have money and ask to buy a good meal... I miss chocolate" Yawning, Kiriko murmured.
"Time goes fast in this place."
Looking at her mother for a few seconds, Saya sighed and walked towards the exit of the cave, then looked towards the forest and approached.
Walking for a few seconds, Saya looked at a 4 meter wolf in the distance and called out "Do you know where your alpha is?"
Quickly turning his gaze towards Saya, the wolf sniffed the air for a few seconds and quickly tilted his head, then turned his head to the right.
"Thank you" Smiling slightly, Saya walked through the forest and reached the river, managing to find Fenrir sitting on a water's edge looking at his own reflection in silence.
Looking around, Saya muttered "I don't see Saeko..."
"She went to hunt something to eat" Tilting his head back, Fenrir looked at Saya with an indifferent expression and asked "Is something wrong?"
"I..." Biting her lips as a tumult of emotions formed in her heart, Saya ducked her head and spoke "I'm sorry..."
"Why?" Cocking her head in confusion, Fenrir asked.
"For stopping you... for bringing people to our cave without asking you... for not understanding you... for everything" Approaching Fenrir while muttering, Saya stood beside him and looked him in the eyes with a complicated expression "I know it may sound hypocritical to say this so lightly. ...but I never really took the time to understand you...my mother only told me about this a few minutes ago and although I know it may seem rushed, I hit upon the truth in the same instant and I felt anxious and sad-"
Babbling a totally disjointed story with no coherence whatsoever, at some point Saya's lips began to tremble as her eyes quickly reddened.
"I-I'm sorry *Sniff*" Letting bitter tears fall, Saya stammered.
It may seem to anyone who observed the whole situation as a third party that Saya's attitude right now is insincere and extremely annoying.
But only she knows the chaos inside her brain right now and how a strong rush of feelings invaded her entire rational system.
After changing her race to an improved version of humans, Saya received more than just physical and intelligence improvements.
Her memory literally became perfect, her body feels strangely more alive and free, but the most noticeable thing in this is the great amount of feelings that actually appeared in her.
Although the feelings are basic, such as anger, sadness, regret among others, for Saya it seems that each of those feelings became at least 100 times heavier and more intense, causing that even a small sadness such as not having something to eat can cause her to cry.
Now just think how she feels knowing that she hurt a person she holds dear to her heart and she didn't even realize it.
She literally feels like the most horrible piece of garbage in the world right now, even though her mistake started with an attempt to get information to keep the herd safe.
"Why are you crying...?" Looking at Saya doubtfully, Fenrir muttered.
"I-I *Sniff* I'm sorry" Wiping tears from her eyes, Saya sobbed as she stuttered.
Staring at Saya for a few seconds, Fenrir got up and stood in front of her, then reached out his hand and stroked her cheek gently "Don't cry..."
"*Sniff*" Lifting her gaze to Fenrir's face, Saya sobbed and stammered "R-really sorry *Sniff*"
"As humans say... the past stays in the past" Shaking his head, Fenrir gently wiped Saya's tears with his thumb and continued to murmur "The pack has to stick together... take care of each other... understand each other... adapt to each other... be a pack"
"You have to understand that if one beast knows your cave, the whole herd is in danger..." Joining his forehead with Saya's, Fenrir looked her straight in the eyes and continued "The cave must be a safe spot, one that enemy predators must not know about... that is the purpose of a cave, to be able to take refuge from the outside danger and rest."
"But even though you made a mistake worthy of a puppy, I can't understand why you are sad..."
