Desiree called for help for twenty minutes before she accepted that no one was coming until Malcolm said it was okay. She took a seat in the bed and looked around the room for a way out. She found none.
After an hour, she heard the lock click in the door and stood up. As it opened, the carriage driver stepped inside.
“I beg your pardon. I had no choice. The beta ordered I keep you in here for an hour and then take you home.”
“I have to go to the ship. My sister…”
“What can you do for her now, Miss? If you go, the alpha will be distracted. He’ll have those kids, your sister and you to worry about. The biggest help you could be to him is staying away. Let him fight this battle. Trust that he will save your sister and bring her back safely.”
She sat back down on the bed, frustrated.
“I’ll be at the bar when you’re ready.”
