Chapter 29: The Alpha's Dilemma

Declan led Desiree to the deck of the ship. Coming out into the bright sun as she had the day before blinded her. Declan held her hand to help her watch her step until she could see clearly. She noted that the entire crew seemed to have paused in their duties to watch her.

She let her eyes travel over their facial expressions at the sight of her, dressed in borrowed men’s clothes, and wondered briefly what they all must be thinking of her. Plus, she became one more mouth to feed along the way.

What did she have to contribute to the crew besides getting hurt, or in trouble and as Declan put it, needing a babysitter?
