Chapter 37

Raweg stepped in. Cato cursed himself for being so lost in his thoughts he didn’t hear the door swing open. Four more Iceni warriors dressed in thick sheepskin robes sauntered into the dwelling.

“Do excuse the mess,” Cato joked as he got to his feet. He turned to face the five werewolves. “If I had known you were coming, I would have cleaned up a bit.”

Cato struggled to keep himself calm and collected as Skoll burst into laughter.

“How did you find me?” Cato demanded.

“We saw a fiery blaze erupt in the distance,” Raweg replied. “Your signal told us you and the princess had been separated in the blizzard. We sent praise to Duibhe. The crone had split our quarry and granted us the more satisfying kill.”

“If you wish to taste blood, Raweg,” Cato snarled through bared teeth. “You will taste only your own.”

“Says the mutt who can’t but remain in his human form.” Raweg chuckled. Those with him followed suit. “Leave this one to me.”
