Michael’s POV
Why me? Why now? No one had ever said that getting married would be this hard. It was supposed to be easy — pick a woman and marry her. It sounded simple. Why wasn't it as easy as it sounded?
I sat at the dining room table. My mother and Jack had left me to my thoughts. The house was empty, only filled with the sound of my breathing. It was up to me to decide. No one had to marry anyone except for me. The pressure was slowly drowning me.
I needed Jane's pack for the survival of my own. Marriage was the easiest platform for negotiation. All of Jane's assets would become my own and her pack would have to pledge loyalty to mine. What if that wasn't enough? What if her pack didn't believe in loyalty? My mother’s words played in my head, I needed more than loyalty. How could I win them over?
