Michael’s POV
The car stopped abruptly. The sun was long gone and now replaced by the bright moon. We got out of the car; a small shack was all that stood surrounded by columns of oak trees.
"Where are we?"
I couldn't see Jane or Kaden's family owning such a rundown shack. Years prior when the shack was in its prime it could have been attractive and if treated properly it could have been the perfect secluded spot for romance.
"Kaden used to bring her here. Before the beatings, this was their hideaway." Claire explained.
Her eyes were torn between relief and terror, neither side completely winning. It was easy to feel both in this moment. If Havana was inside then we would bring her to safety, but also that would mean that Kaden was a menace. He would be a danger to all of us.
Claire took a step forward and I grabbed her hand. I couldn't force her to stay back and wait for me, but I wasn't going to let her go in alone.
"We go together."
