"Azrel?"

Azrel stopped looking at his changed form and saw that he was alone again save for one dark-haired girl; she held her hand to him. He tried to remember if they had met before.

"I am a monster." He shied away from her but she stepped closer regardless.

"Azrel take my hand." She spoke with the voice of a thousand women before her. Being close to her made him feel more at ease. He felt human again.

"Please?" She spoke softly and he felt his heart buckle for her.

He reached for her hand feeling like he might crush her with his new claws. When they touched, he felt calm for the first time since he was a child.

They reached a pair of carriages, and Anaya secretly dreaded another ride, but when it opened, she was surprised by the luxury within. 


"I will accompany my sister in her carriage. You two lead the way and look out for any traps." Azrel held his hand out for her, but she declined and gripped the side of the cart and got in herself. 


There was food waiting for her and tea in china cups. The seat of the carriage was more comfortable than her bed in Genthral. She was tempted to lay on them and sleep until she felt better. Anaya was dismayed when the prince fulfilled his word and climbed into the carriage, sitting across from her. 


"We are ready to go." Azrel tapped the wall of the carriage.
