Chapter 33: The Hideaway

Azrel

“It's back through here.” Azrel parted the secret slit in the tapestry holding it open for Anaya to look through.

Anaya peered through into the dark passage. She raised an eyebrow at Azrel.

“You want me to follow you down a pitch black hall?” Anaya said. “You know that's how children from bedtime stories disappear.”

“By following princes?” Azrel smirked.

“No by finding secret passages.” Anaya lowered her eyebrows into a glare.

Despite her questions, Anaya followed Azrel into the hall. He guided her to the stone door and removed the key from around his neck. He unlocked the door with a click.

“Spooky,” Anaya whispered behind him. Azrel opened the door to the sanctuary and Anaya peered in around his shoulder. She gasped at the sight.

“Oh,” she said.

“Oh?” Azrel repeated teasing her. He allowed her inside first.
