Chapter 12: Running

“Here, as in here in Seattle?” Emilia asked. She stood up and paced back and forth, suitcase forgotten on her bed.

“I followed him here,” Dulcinea said with a nod.

“That was fast,” Emilia muttered. She turned her back to on Dulcinea and Tommy.

“Okay, I don’t really know what is going on,” Tommy said.

Emilia glanced at him over her shoulder and smirked at him. “Do you really want to?” she asked. “It’ll just put you in more danger.”

“More danger?” he asked, standing up. “Am I already in danger?”

Dulcinea snorted and grabbed Tommy’s wrist. She pulled him back down to the couch.

“You painted her,” she said.

Tommy shrugged, looking between Emilia and Dulcinea. Emilia felt sorry for him. She turned away again, wrapping her arms around her stomach. She should have considered the danger to him before dragging him into her life.
