Chapter 28: Warning or Threat?

Dulcinea followed Tommy down the hall. He couldn’t shake her and Emilia wasn’t around to help him out.

No, Emilia had gone back to talk to the Old Ones and had left him out.

Grumbling to himself, he crossed his arms, ignoring Dulcinea’s taunts and attempts to bait him.

How could Emilia leave him out of this? He’d gone to the hidden door, but it was sealed. No amount of pushing and pounding against it would open it up. She was shutting him out.

“Tommy, don’t run away from me,” Dulcinea sang, running up behind him.

“I’m going back to my room,” he told her firmly.

“Why so you can sulk and whine about Emilia running off on her own?” the familiar asked. “You shouldn’t feel so bad, she does that a lot.”

“What do you mean?” Tommy asked. He stopped trying to run from Dulcinea, instead of turning to face her.

Dulcinea smirked and licked her lips. Now that she had Tommy’s attention, he had a feeling she would be less forthcoming. That was always her game.
