“But are you sure he was serious?” Carson asked again. We had been talking about the incident with Fiona and Cyrus all day. Texting about it in class, whispering about it in the halls, and now that school was over, we were debating it in his car while on our way to the diner.
“I am sure. I know what a threat sounds like.” I urged. “She’s lying about all of it. They definitely knew each other, but he was not her friend.”
“So why lie?” he asked turning the car into the near empty parking lot.
“Why does Fiona lie about anything?” I shook my head in frustration. It seemed like every day we were stumbling upon more and more secrets, all revolving around Fiona. He put the car and park and turned toward me.
“We’ll figure it out.” He smiled grabbing my hand. I rubbed my thumb across the side of his palm as we both looked at each other.
“We should go.” I whispered, tilting my head toward him.
“Yea, c’mon.” he smiled turning off the car and opening his door.
