SPELLbound

Carson jumped to his feet, running along the back wall across the gym and out the double doors. No one seemed to notice with the strobe lights, music, and all eyes on the cheer squad. I could see Gavin looking at me and motioning to follow him. 


“I’ll be right back.” I shouted to Sophie who was still wrapped up in the school events. She looked surprised but just nodded her head. I hurried down the bleachers, trying not to step on anyone as I went. Once on the floor I hung close to the wall, staying out of sight, until I reached the same doors Carson and Gavin had left through. 


In the hall Gavin was waiting. “This isn’t good.” He whined. He began to walk quickly toward the back of the school. 


“What’s going on?” I asked looking around for Carson. We stopped just outside of Mr. Mercolous’s classroom.


“I need you to try to talk him down” he urged.
