"What the Hell is going on!"
Eryth was the first to lower his saber and lift his gaze toward the turbulent skies. He grimaced. "It's a tribulation. It's rare for one to appear at the birth of a hearthstone, but… "He paused, shifting his gaze to me. His eyes softened a little. "Your no ordinary monster. Whatever you two did trigger this Heavenly Tribulation."
A knot of tension burrowed its way into my chest. "I can't leave, can I?"
"No," Vesryn answered. "Once a Tribulation commences, you are bound by the Heavenly Law to be judged and punished. Infringement will only result in a heavier sentence."
The knot in my chest tightened at his words. What the Hell could be worse than this? The moon and stars were gone. Lightning, the color I'd never even thought conceivable, was shrieking over the goddamn skies. How could this be worse? Why did I listen to Lily?
When have my parents not tried to kill me?
