Chapter 14

Phillips POV

After saying goodnight I head to my room, to give the newlyweds some privacy. They had hardly had any time without me following close behind and I really wasn't feeling great after dinner. After leaving them in the sitting room, I head to my bedroom to shower. The warm water feels good against my skin as it beats down on my back. When I am done I step out and a rush of cold air hits me like a ton of bricks as I scramble to put on my robe. I feel my stomach churn and I run to the toilet before violently throwing up. I sink against the wall trying to catch my breath. My wolf was shaking and I knew something must be wrong. I resisted going to tell Ella and Merrick, it was their time and my being sick didn't need to disrupt that. After a few failed attempts I stood up, taking the wastebasket with me to the bed. Lifting the blanket, I crawl in as quick as I could and cuddle up with a pillow, and do my best to fall asleep.

Despite the pain in my stomach, I finally drift off, my wolf calming down and resting inside my mind. It felt like hours had passed when the urge to relieve myself woke me. The room was still dark and I wondered what time it was, looking at my phone I see that I had just been asleep for an hour. Sitting up I felt my whole body pulse with pain, staring from my stomach and then reaching my arms and legs. I felt weak as I pushed myself from the bed and struggled to make it to the bathroom before vomiting. I felt light-headed and I could feel myself slipping into unconsciousness, it was now or never. I let out a scream, pushing everything I could out hoping that Merrick would hear me.

"Phillip!!!"

I felt my body shift, my wolf taking over to try and get me back into bed but it was no use. He gagged and everything went black. I felt myself floating and when I turn around, I see a beautiful wooded forest. Where was I? I had never seen this place before, but it was spectacular. There were large red oaks that seem to touch the sky and the scents of lavender and vanilla fill my nose. I began to walk around, "Hello?" I shouted, "Ella...Merrick...where are you?"

Suddenly there was a sound from a nearby bush and out steps an amber-colored wolf. It was my wolf... "How...What is this?" I speak to the wolf. He wines and trots over licking my hand. I pet his head and try to comfort him, I could tell he was scared. "Phillip DePointe, you are early." I look up from my wolf and standing before me were the most beautiful creatures I had ever seen. My eyes widen when I see she is somewhat floating. My wolf trots over the woman sitting right under where her feet were floating.

"Who are you? Where am I??" I ask. A soft smile warms her face and she descends to the forest floor, holding out a hand to help me up. Hesitantly, I reach for her hand as and push myself off the ground. When we are face to face she smiles, "I am the moon Goddess, Electra. Welcome to the eternal forest."

"Wait! No, that can't be, right? Am I dead?" I feel panic in my chest as I look around trying to make sense of what was going on. She places her hand on the center of my chest and I feel a sense of calm wash over me.

"No, you are not dead, yet." she chuckles. Nice to see that even a goddess has a sense of humor. Obviously amused at my face, she smiles before she explains.

"You see you are here very early. You were poisoned, my dear. I'm very sorry about that. But rest assured, I am sending to back to look over Eleonore and Merrick. I have decided to change the threads of fate. All three of you have been left without a mate. So I am giving you all another chance at love. They are your life now and it's your duty to protect them." she smiles. "Wait... what..." before I can even ask her a question it fades to black. Her smile faded from my mind.

My eyes become less heavy and when I open them I see Ella and Merrick both around me, keeping me warm. They both looked so beautiful and it was almost as if there was a glow that surrounded them. I pulled them closed to my body holding on to them, I would never let them go again. The moon goddess told me they were mine and I needed to protect them so I always would. My eyes soon felt like lead and closed shut.

I felt warm. I felt safe. I drifted off being surrounded by their scent and the love that came from their embrace. When I started to wake my mouth felt dry. I opened my eyes and to my surprise Ella was laying with me, completely naked. "wa...wa..water?" I ask her. She grabs a bottle and held my head to give me a drink. She looked like the goddess with some subtle differences but her vibe was still the same. My arms latch around her waist. She smells so good, familiar like the forest. She moves me back onto the bed. Everything hurts and the brain fog was intense. I shift under the covers, never letting her go. I felt my body go numb, I was still awake but I couldn't move. Please moon goddess let me stay here, with them.

I heard sounds all around me as Merrick came back into the room with Dr. Reed and some woman named Sadie. I felt her cold hands touch me as they looked me over, Ella leaving my side. My wolf wines, No please come back, mates!!!"

The woman, Sadie touches my chest and it fades to black again. This time when I wake I am in the infirmary at Greenvine. When I open my eyes and gather my surrounding I see Merrick sitting at my side, hand on mine. He had fallen asleep and he looked peaceful, a slight bit of drool seeping from his mouth. I move my hand and sit up doing my best not to wake him. Then I hear the door open and my eyes meet Ella's. She throws down the cups she was carrying running over to the other side of the bed.

"Phillip!!! Merrick, wake up!!" He jumps at her words but smiles as soon as he sees me awake. "Oh my goddess! Phillip," tears stream down their faces and I am attacked with hugs. " I will go grab Doctor Reed and Sadie," Ella says trying to move towards the door. I don't want to let her go, but alas she gives me a look and I release her hand.

Merrick smiles at me, never letting go of my hand. " We were so worried about you. We thought we had lost you, Thank the moon goddess that you are safe", he says, a sigh of relief following.

"What happened?" I ask looking around for a glass of water. Merrick grabs a bottle of water behind him, opening it for me and helping me drink as he starts to explain. " You were poisoned. It was Alpha Luca...After we left he came looking for us and burned down the hotel we were at." I can see the anger on his face.

"We left Rhodes that night and with the help of Doctor Reed and His assistant Sadie, they were able to save your life. You've been out for a week." He moves closer to the bed and rests his head on my arm. " I am so glad you are alive, I don't know what I would do without you", and he lays a kiss on the back of my hand.

Ella returns and resumes her place on the other side of the bed, following suit with Merrick she lays her head on arm. Coming in with her I see Dr. Reed, He was a short, older man who had taken care of Rick's father when he was dying.

"Good to see you're still kicking", he laughs. "If it wasn't for Sadie here, you would have been a goner", he says pointing to the young girl next to him. "Thank you, for saving my life" I grunt feeling pain in my stomach. " You are probably hungry, I will have some food made for you. Please rest until it gets here, we have a lot to talk about after you rest. The Alpha is going to pay dearly for this.."
