A new obstruction

Mark and Alissa. They were sitting a meter away from each other, and were having quite the pleasant conversation, every time after they take a sip of their coffee. Their semi-date was going well, and everything was going in the exact way that Alissa wanted it to go. They both laughed often times as they shared conversations, Mark was lowering his defenses against Alissa, and never had Mark questioned Alissa's disguise.

Everything was going according to Alissa's plans…

However, just when Alissa's was starting to believe that live was actually going the way she wanted it to, that's when another cruel slap of reality had hit her.

Elena's resistance against mental attacks…

Her resistance against mental attacks had increased, and as a result, had form a self defense system against Alissa's art of possession. Alissa was no longer able to take control over Elena's body, and was forced out as a result, due to such a self defensive system of Elena.

This is where another set of troubles began for Alissa. Everything that she has done up till now, everything that she had planned for… It all crumbled down in front of her, right at that instant, when she came to discover the cruelty of mental resistance. She should have expected it at the first place, after what had happened to her lover, however, she didn't. She thought her plans were so perfect, and had even already fantasized about her successful future, but unfortunately, her plans were not so perfect after all.

She had failed... Failed to realize the problem in her plans, which ironically, is the very same problem that had caused all of her recent troubles.

"Huh? What?" Elena was confused. She didn't know why she was sitting across her neighbor, however, she was able to recollect her memories that brings her to this point of time. Nevertheless, they were just memories. Memories that shows her doing things that she wasn't aware of doing. Memories that aren't far too different to dreams…

"Are you okay?" In turn, Mark became confused as well, and the reason why, is because he couldn't understand the sudden change in Elena's behavior.

His eyes told him that Elena has a different aura to her, and her behavior told him that she is definitely not okay. As for the reason why Elena was not okay, Mark could not tell, and could only ask instead.

"I… I'm not sure. My head feels a bit heavy. Sorry, but I think I'll have to leave. I don't feel so alright." Elena answered.

"Oh, okay…" Was Mark's reaction upon Elena's sudden departure. He didn't know what to say, since everything happened so sudden, and there was no reason for him to say anything more as well. Elena was acting weird, and she didn't seem too alright to him. This bloomed something inside his heart. A feeling told him that she needed some time and privacy, to sort whatever problem her heart was facing. Because apparently, the feeling of his heart told him that her heart and mind were struggling. She was having a romantic struggle, because she was fighting the demons inside her heart.

"A new coming of sinful emotions, yet strained by past memories…" Mark muttered as he stared at the disappearing figure of Elena.

For some reason, Mark could tell the psychological state of Elena, when clearly, he had never interacted with many people in the past, and barely knew anything about the characteristics of humans. Even he was baffled by such a feat of his, and was even starting to wonder if it is a hidden talent of his that had developed itself after the death of his mother.

'Ever since that day, I feel like I've never been the same… Especially since that day when I thought that there is nothing more to life. Ever since that day, I feel like there's some kind of spirit inside me, guiding me to the better…'

'No way God is real, right? Why would he be guiding me now, and not when me and mom needed him the most?'

Such were Mark's thoughts, after he had realized that his personality was showing more and more of a change. The reason for such thoughts of his, was because it wasn't just any change, but a change that doesn't seem logical at all. As to why it's not logical… That's because a personality can change, but the wisdom can not without knowledge. Nevertheless, for some reason, he now has a personality of a person that understands the concept of society, morals, and empathy. Obviously, that is not normal. Definitely not normal for someone like him, a young adult who has no experience with the heart of people and who was too troubled with his father's troubles to care about others, to have.

Nonetheless, no matter how abnormal his change is, he could not find an answer for such a change, nor did he see a reason to complain.

'Maybe I'm just maturing…'

In the end, Mark could only come up with such conclusion, which sounded the most logical to him.
