31 - Exemption Letter

"Xia Yue, it's your turn now. Say what happened that night with the Blood Order attack." Xu Xin's apathetic voice rang out through the room, cutting off everyone's trains of thought.

'As expected, he remembers what happened that night' Xia Yue had already suspected that he remembered based on the fact that he looked at his hand to see if it had healed, which he would only do if he remembered, so she wasn't that surprised.

"When we were en route to be here, we were attacked by a High Blood Priestess, and she almost killed us, with one of Xiao Wei's royal guards being killed with another being badly injured.

She was about to kill us when she said something along the lines of 'Xiao Wei, you are the cause of and the only one who knows the true circumstances of Xiao Xin's death. Did you really think we'd let you escape?'

This lines up with what Xu Xin just said, so I believe that Xiao Wei really was the one to betray the Xiao kingdom and lead to the death of Xiao Xin."

She spoke very solemnly, because she knew just the gravity that her accusations carried.

Everyone thought for a few moments, but a voice suddenly rang out, full of suspicion.

"If you were attacked by a High Blood Priestess, how did you escape?" The old man from before, the one who was stronger than Xia Yue, suspected her words strongly.

Hearing this, everyone was instantly filled with suspicion, because if there truly was a High Blood Priestess, then they wouldn't be able to escape, let alone arrive here without Xiao Wei mentioning it.

However, Xia Yue had prepared a response, "We were saved by what I believe to be an expert of the realm above the spirit realm, because the power displayed was at least ten times stronger than even the Blood Order Patriarch.

I don't know why we were saved, but that's the only explanation, and Xiao Wei and Yue Ning weren't able to remember what happened."

Everyone was still extremely suspicious of her words, but there wouldn't be any way to find out if she was speaking the truth anyways since even if she was, the area where the High Blood Priestess was killed would be razed by the Blood Order to leave no clues of their involvement.

After a few moments of pondering, everyone was at a loss for words, because based on the information provided by Xu Xin and Xia Yue, it was pretty much conclusive that Xiao Xin hadn't betrayed the kingdom, and that Xiao Wei had.

A few moments of silence passed before Fan Yuan spoke out, "How did you fall for Xiao Wei's trap?" She couldn't restrain the curiosity in her heart anymore.

"Xiao Xin was weak, naïve, stupid!!!" Xu Xin's voice was filled with killing intent as he slammed his fist on the table, causing a crack to spread across it despite being extremely sturdy.

However, he almost instantly calmed down as he spoke, "He was everything that I am not. I am not Xiao Xin; he died the second he watched Mei'er die in his arms. I will be better than him."

Fan Yuan was taken aback by this intense anger, because when she had previously interacted with Xiao Xin, despite his coldness, he had always been easygoing and calm, and this level of anger was something that she had never seen in him.

However, she calmed down a moment later, "Then how did you survive the core crippling poison? As far as I'm aware, even a fourth stage spirit realm would find it difficult to survive. And why is your face different?"

"As if I'd tell you. I already told you that I was Xiao Xin, and yet you still want to know more?" Xu Xin's voice rang out with mockery.

As she heard this, Fan Yuan realized that this definitely involved some secrets, and she had spoken out of turn by asking about it.

Xu Xin's eyes then shifted towards the King and Queen, "You know that I don't do anything unprovoked, so give me an exemption letter and I'll be out of your way until I'm strong enough to fight the Blood Order."

Hearing this, the King and Queen looked at each other for a few moments, occasionally looking back at Xu Xin, and they were speaking to each other in a whisper for a few seconds before finally coming to an agreement.

"We will give you an exemption letter, but you have to agree not to intentionally include the Bright Moon Kingdom in your personal matters now and until the end of the war you will wage."

Hearing this, Xu Xin expected this, and all he did was nod his head to show that he agreed.

Then, without any more hesitation, the King pulled out a golden note from his pocket and put it on the table in front of him, and he then called Xu Xin over and pricked his finger. Xu Xin knew how this worked, so he didn't care much.

The King then squeezed a drop of blood out of his pricked finger, while Xu Xin silently made sure that at least a few cells in that drop had a bit of the aquamarine blood in it just to make sure, and it landed on the golden note, which then started to shine and absorb the blood.

As it absorbed his blood, Xu Xin only needed to think and send in a tiny bit of his inner energy to make a symbol in the middle of the golden note shine with a golden luster.

This symbol was the royal crest of the Bright Moon Kingdom, which was the kingdom they were in now.

The 'letter of exemption' was a golden note that was given to somebody in a kingdom, and it would make them completely exempt from the laws of the kingdom no matter what they did.

This meant that they could kill with no consequence and didn't need to listen to people that were highly ranked in the kingdom.

Xu Xin merely got this for convenience since he was naturally a bit of a troublemaker based on his personality, and he wanted it mainly to be exempt from the orders of those of higher status.

As for why it was activated by blood, that was to make sure that only the person it was given to could use it, and it wouldn't do anything if someone else took it.

After all, it was complete exemption from laws, and it couldn't be allowed to fall into someone else's hands other than the person it was intended for.

There wasn't a single person in each kingdom that didn't know these exemption letters, so it could get you out of any situation no matter what since it represented the King and Queen themselves.

After seeing that the exemption letter was working, Xu Xin was about to leave when he heard the king speak, "How did you do that? I haven't activated it yet."

"Did you forget that I was a crown prince and who my master was? I can activate any royal technique from any kingdom."

In reality, even though he knew how to activate it, he actually hadn't so he was curious as to how he could use it without activating it.

However, he quickly came up with the answer and thought that maybe it was because he put a tiny little bit of the aquamarine blood into it.

He figured that maybe it could unlock things that were activated by blood, but that was just his suspicion, and his excuse fooled the others, so it didn't matter anyways.

With this, he just walked out, and nobody was going to stop him, because they knew that he had a reason for doing this instead of just asking for stuff that could allow him to get stronger faster.

As he slowly walked around and eventually out of the castle, he got some odd looks, since very few people of his strength were even allowed inside, but they didn't bother him since nobody was here without a reason.

Eventually, he reached the outside of the castle, and he just slowly mixed into the core city people, doing absolutely nothing at first. After all, he had no money and no way to get money, but he didn't care much.

All he needed was a way to get food, and he simply headed outside of the city wall in order to hunt some food. After all, there was forest surrounding the core city where he could hunt.

Most people weren't questioned when trying to leave the city, but since he was so weak, a guard questioned him, and hearing that he was just going to hunt, he was allowed out.

At the same time, his face and name was recorded so that he could be let back in when he returned.

After all, while Xu Xin was weak, if he was going to be returning, they had to let him in again.

Little did they know that this boy would be one of the strongest people ever once he matured.

As Xu Xin walked into the woods, he just hunted a bit before he returned with a boar thrown over his shoulder.

People were surprised to find that he could carry the giant boar as if it was nothing, but they didn't care much, and he was let through after confirming his identity.

As he went into the town, he was given some odd looks, but he couldn't care less and just continued towards the middle of the town.

There, he simply traded for a bit of the boar's meat since he couldn't eat it all and bought some stuff to make a fire to cook the meat.

He then settled on the side of the road and set up a fire while slicing the boar's body apart. He also completely pelted it and put the pelt aside for later.

He then set up the boar meat in slices to cook over the fire, and just as the smell of roasted meat was permeating through the street, Xu Xin looked up.

There was someone walking over towards him with an arrogant expression on his face.

"Hey, street rat. Don't you know that you aren't allowed to set up anything on the side of the road? Get out of here!"

However, the next second, his eyes bulged as his jaw hung low and his mind short-circuited.

In front of his face was a shining golden note with the king's crest, "Fuck off." Xu Xin's voice was cold and filled with killing intent as he didn't even bother to look at the boy. If this boy didn't get out of his face, he would kill him.

Instantly, the boy backed away, because anyone that had this card and could activate it definitely had the approval of the King or the Queen in order to have it activated.

Sensing the killing intent, he was absolutely sure that this boy would kill him if he didn't get out of his face.

Others on the street saw this and were shocked, because anyone that could have an exemption letter was definitely no normal person, and they were completely exempt from the laws and rules, and even unofficial rules didn't have to be followed.

He wouldn't even have to be scared if someone as strong as that old man came and tried to trouble him.

Xu Xin just continued to sit there and cook the boar meat, and it was soon cooked, and as soon as it was, he ate it and started to cultivate. He couldn't care less that he was outside in the elements and didn't care to go find a place to stay since he could just stay here.

In fact, the only reason that he didn't do this previously was because it wasn't allowed, but now that he had the exemption letter, it didn't matter, and he could do whatever he wanted.

He looked like a beggar on the side of the street, but if one looked closely, they might just see that he was a terrifying genius that was about to rise with an unstoppable and uncontrollable momentum.
