Chapter 40

Jeff, I've not been out in this city by this time. I'll cling to you just like a sister. Will I be saved like that?

I asked Jeff since we were in a cab heading to the party while it was almost dark.

I know. Play smart. You'll only see people like you and nothing else. Though don't go far from me. And don't mingle with people you don't know. Make sure all you have are safe... Jeff whispered to my ears

Do you mean the place won't be saved or what exactly are you insinuating? I asked him out of curiosity

Do you think you're heading to Aunty Sandra's house or you're going to church? Jessy don't fall my hand. And I don't want you to take alcoholic drinks concentrate on juice please if you want to follow me next time. I don't need any story, please

Hmm, you're scaring me. I don't take alcohol. My only fear is that I don't know who I may sit next to.

That's not a problem. let's get there first. Whenever you want to go home, let me know. please don't step out of the place alone...Jeff kept giving precautions

Okay, sir. I'll do as you said...

we continued chitchatting as the cab driver took us to the hotel. We alighted and Jeff settled the driver. Just for us to walk into the party hall, while we were still on the runway, I could hear the music very loud. Everywhere was just noisy. I tapped Jeff and said

... Jeff, is there where I'm gonna stay until the party will be over? N! na!! na!!!

This place is very noisy. I wish we won't waste much time here

Jessy, do you mean that you never attend such a party? This is just the beginning... Though it's always full of fun.

Hmm. I'll see you all today. We walked past a place like where some guys were seated and I also spotted some ladies in their midst. Jeff threw his left hand around my waist and I also held his shoulder with my right hand. I noticed people were glancing at us. I just clung to Jeff. At least, I knew he could defend me. As we walked in, I saw some people whispering Jeff's name. "Could it be he's already popular or he used to attend parties like this or all those people are his friends? " I mumbled to myself. We continued going and he started shaking hands with the boys seated in a corner. I greeted them as a group and stood still to observe Jeff's movement and also the people in that place. They were just four guys and three ladies in the circle excluding Jeff and myself.

After shaking hands with the guys, he cleaned the couch enclosed in the circle and signaled me to come and sit. I gently obeyed and then walked to him as other people made way for me to meet with him. We all sat and just for some seconds, someone came to us just to inquire about which drink we would like to take. I didn't know what to answer but Jeff answered both for himself and me. They couldn't allow me to e relax before they insisted that they'll like to know me since Jeff never officially tell them that I'm his girlfriend... As one of them said.

Luckily I saw Brandy who used to receive judo training with us at the same center.

She's Jeff's sis... Brandy wanted to tell them about my relationship with Jeff

Shshshshshsh!!!! Jeff couldn't allow him to continue but had to force him to stop.

She's my girlfriend and my sister. Near her and me respect her and respect me. Give and take!!!

You can't be serious Jeff!!! How can she be your sister and your girlfriend at the same time? Bro is serious, please?

A boy with a black cardigan questioned Jeff.

Nathan!! she's my girlfriend. And she's not one of those roadside girls. Be careful while talking to her or about her. Let that sink into your skull...Jeff spoke to the boy with such an irritating voice.

"It's okay. Let's behave ourselves here!! Brandy said as he stood up. We came here to celebrate and make memories. Why do you people want to turn it to fight? If another person fights a member of this circle what would be our reaction? Meanwhile, Yazeed sent me a text that his father sent some men to come and check what was going on in the hall. And they'll drive out anyone with any hard drug, Indian hemp, and anything that may implicate us. Please let's get rid of anything like that." Brandy concluded

I opened both eyes and mouth. Does that mean we have people that use such things in our midst? That means there's not as safe as I thought. I was still looking around when I saw Brandy bring out a black sack from his pocket. Opened it and asked everyone to put whichever one he or she has into it. To my surprise, two ladies amongst us brought something I didn't know out of their pockets and put it in the sack. Nathan and others did the same. I was just sitting innocently next to Jeff and stylishly spying on Jeff just to know whether he had anything on him. But he didn't bring out anything.
