Sapphire's pov

I was in a garden, filled with beautiful flowers with lovely scents, the fresh air was awesome I could hear the sound of music. It was from a guitar but I didn't know where it came from.

The music played was the song my dad always played for me when I was little, I could hear the song and I could hear his voice, i searched around for him because at that point, I just wanted to see my dad, I wanted to feel his hugs again and I needed his protection, I yelled his name, and ran around in search for him, I ran everywhere, yelled out with all of my strength I searched as much as I could but I didn't see him.

I could only hear him playing the guitar and singing my favorite song.

I got emotional because I just wanted my dad and that song reminded me of him.

The more I cried, the more I realized that no matter how much I tried i just couldn't see him, but I would give anything just to see him, just once, I missed my dad so much.

I woke up by the sounds of my alarm clock.. Which made Loren upset because she woke up too.

"Gosh, can't I get a nice sleep?, unfortunately for me I have a roommate who likes to act like a school nerd and must use an alarm clock" she said in a rude tone,

which showed she was really offended by my alarm clock, but I wonder if it's my alarm she's offended about or me.

"Good morning Loren, honestly Alarm clocks are very good, it helps one to be on time and it doesn't mean one is a nerd, you should try to have one it helps a lot" I said to her.

"Thanks but no, I don't want it, I hate alarm clocks, and If you don't mind Sapphire I would like to go to sleep now".

"Sure, go back to sleep you'll need it anyways, because it looks like you hardly sleep and you need more of it, than I do, I'll be going to take a bath now".

I head towards the bathroom, I had to go to the pastry shop today to know when I would start working, and I wanted to surprise mom later I'd just go home and check up on her, to see how she's doing.

I took a shower, and went back to my room to get dressed, Loren was still asleep.

I quickly got dressed, I was in a hurry so I put on my favorite sweat shirt and sweat pants and a white sneakers

I didn't have lectures until tomorrow afternoon, and I had agreed to meet up with Lisa tomorrow in the morning at the cafe in school.

I took my bag and headed to the pastry shop.

Hours past and the cab I took dropped me of at the pastry shop.

I walked and the place was quite full with people, Bruce did tell me that the shop was known for its delicious pastries, I looked around and saw someone at the counter and I asked for the owner of the shop.

I was directed to the kitchen because I was told she was baking cookies at that moment.

I stepped in after knocking, and I saw the owner, she's a blonde, with dark brown eyes, she looked like she was in her early forties and it was obvious she always has a cheerful smile on her face.

She saw me and had already put the last tray of cookies in the oven.

She had a smile on her face, and walked towards me.

"Hey, You must be Sapphire, Bruce mentioned you to me, I'm Mrs Sarah".

" Yes mam, I'm Sapphire and I'd like to apply for a job here as a part time worker" I told her.

"I know all that darling, and luckily for you I have a free spot right now, at the counter I'm in deep need of a waitress, so so you think you can handle the job? " She asked.

" Of course mam, I can, and I am much interested in the job"

"Well Bruce told me a lot about you and you seem hard-working so Ill give you a chance you can start work the day after tomorrow at exactly 8:30pm we will talk about the pay on that day".

"Thank you mam, I'll be here exactly at that time have a nice day mam" I told her.

"I hope to see you Sapphire, have a nice day too". She told me and walked back into the kitchen.

She seemed nice, and I have a feeling that I would be comfortable working here, the place is filled with good vibes.

I headed out to exit the pastry shop, I wanted to surprise mom and see how she was fairing.

I held the door to walk out, but I felt a hand touch my shoulder, and I turned back to see who it was.

It was him, his green eyes, curly hair, and warm smile, I couldn't forget that.

It was Erick.

He noticed I felt his touch and faced him, he gave me a warm smile and spoke up.

"Sapph, what a surprise, who knew I would see you here again".

"Woah, Erick I'm really surprised what are you doing here? " I asked.

" I love pastries, and I usually come here at my free time, to have some, Mrs Sarah's pastries are my favorite".

"Wow, you love pastries, I happen to start work here The day after tomorrow"

"Your working here, that's really nice are you headed somewhere? " He asked.

" Yeah I am, I just got admitted to the Washington State University, and I'm no more with my mom, so I wanted to surprise her and visit her right now"

"Well, what if I give you a drive to your house?"

"Uhm I think it's ok because I can manage and I can go there on my own, you don't have to worry".

"Sapph, I haven't seen you in a while and I want to use this opportunity to be with you"

I was surprised by what he said he wanted to be with me?.

"huh?, you want to be with me? " I ask

" uhhhh, what I mean is I don't mind being your driver for today, and If your worried about my job, you don't have to, because I have the entire day to myself, so is it a yes? "

I smiled, and thought about it.

" Alright, it's a yes Erick" I say.

He got excited and told me jokingly,

"Shall we Madame, so where am I taking you today?" He said.

And I let out a laugh, while he opened his car door for me, and I entered into his car.

The drive was a bit long, but I wanted to know more about him, so I asked questions.

"So you work at a company?"

"Yeah, I do, Relox cooperation, it's my Dad's but I'm practically taking charge of it now"

"Oh, your parents are alive right?"

"Of course they are, and my mom has always been the overprotective kind"

We had been talking and I didn't even notice when we already reached my house.

"Oh, we are here, umm could you wait here for me, the visit would be a short one" I ask him

"Yeah, no problem, I will stay put and wait mam" he chuckled

"Thank you Erick" I smiled..

I walked into the house and looked for mom, and I called out her name, it did take a while but she finally showed up.

I was shocked, that I was just gone for a day and mom got drunk again.

She held two bottles of beer in her hand..

"Mom, what is this, what are you doing?, I can't believe that I leave to go to school and I've only been gone for a day, and you go back to drinking? "

" Sapph, I can explain, I thought of your father again, I had those memories I shared with him, I was depressed and I didn't know what else to do"

"You didn't know, and alcohol was the only solution for you, I can't believe this mom, you promised to try your best and improve in being a parent, I hate it when you get drunk, I never felt your affection as a child because of alcohol, and now your going back to it, shortly after you promised me you were not going to".

"Sapph, your dad meant a lot to me"

"You know mom, I never felt your Love as a child, I did everything I could to please you, and to be the perfect daughter, I tried to show you how much I loved you, and how much you meant to me, I needed your love the most when dad died, but instead I got your hatred and frustration, you were never there for me, it was like you hated me and now that you finally want to open up to me, you decide to go back to the old you, and neglect me again"

"I loved your dad, and I just couldn't live without him."

"I loved dad too, but it's not enough reason for me not to move on and be the good and perfect daughter you want me to be, that I'm sure dad would have wanted me to be, the only reason all of this is happening is because your a selfish mom, you never for once in your life cared about or even considered my feelings, You are a God damn selfish mother"

Tears fell from my eyes, and she looked at me, then she slapped me.

Erick must have heard the yelling from outside and he came in to see what was going on.

"Sapph are you okay? " he asked.

" I'm fine, let's go, I don't want to stay here anymore, I don't want to stay with a mother who doesn't think about her daughter"

Mom watched me leave, without saying a word, I don't even know if she felt remorseful, or sad about what she did..

Tears kept on falling from my eyes as I left and Erick noticed how sad I was.

"I know a place we could go to, I always go there to think when I feel down or upset, it's a good place to think" He said.

I didn't say a word but kept on crying, he drove there and when we arrived, it was a large garden It was filled with green grasses and it had a lake, along with a comfy house. He took me in and the house was really comfortable, it had a born fire and nicely colored chairs and tables it was quite big.

I still felt sad, I was still emotional, Erick came closer to me and hugged me, I hugged him back, he tried comforting me, so I would stop crying.

"Do you want some coffee? " he asked.

" No, I don't" I replied

"Do you want to lie down? " he asked

I just nodded and he took me to a room, the bed was quite big, he helped to tuck me in and just lay by my side straddling my hair.

He really didn't say much to me but he sang so I would fall asleep.

He kept on singing, and I just lay there, like a child trying to fall asleep, I didn't know exactly what was happening, but I know I felt more than comfortable when I was with Erick, he always tried to make me feel at ease I leaned closer to him and he kissed my forehead.

Sooner than I thought I fell asleep in his arms like a baby.

I felt safe and secure with Erick.
