Chapter one
WAKING UP TO A NIGHTMARE.
Her eyes opened slowly but it didn't take her long to register in her head that everywhere was completely dark. It was as if she hadn't opened her eyes at all.
"Hello?" She called out in case anyone was around but no reply came.
She soon realize she was lying down facing up. But what fazed her was why she was lying on the cold floor. She sat up immediately and tried searching the floor with her hands blindly but that was of no use since she found nothing. She felt nothing around. not a chair, table, bed or anything. She stood up to check the place properly I case she would hit something but she didn't. She walked around for minutes and found nothing.
It was then a rush of adrenaline hit her her bed wasn't that spacious, no it wasn't spacious at all. Not even her entire house could compare. She wondered where she was and if she was kidnapped? She tried to remember what happen? What was she doing before she blanked out and woke up in such a mysterious place. But nothing, absolutely nothing came into her head. She knew who she was, Huang Ming Zhu. Yes that was her name. Huang Li fen was her adoptive mother's name and Huang dong hai was her adoptive father's name, she remembered all that but what made her suddenly scared and even more terrified about why she was here and what was happening is when she realized that she couldn't remember their faces neither..."my face!" She screamed.
"My face, why...why can't I remember my face?" She cried out as if someone was listening to her.
"Where am I? Who's there? What's happening? Please help me!" She begged and questioned the air. she dropped to the floor and her heart raced rapidly. She started hyperventilating as panic crept into her heart. She kept breathing uncontrollably as she tried to remember any memory from her past, anything at all, argument, laughter, a smell anything at all but nothing came into her head. She remembered nothing and no one except for the names. She questioned herself further, she calmed down and started taking slow breaths to regulate her breathing she soon realize that she was starting to remember more names. It distracted her a bit.
Bam Bang
Chun Tao
Those names suddenly echoed in her head. Some one was calling out those names.
"Bam Bang, Chun Tao?" She called out,
"Who are they?" She asked herself but suddenly at that moment, the room brightened up and the ground below her opened up and swallowed her In. She kept on falling for a while until she landed on a soft bed laid on the ground for her. Her heart was racing again. She thought that this was the end for her, that she would have to die without remembering anything, not her parents, friends, or even herself. But then again she was saved by the bed laid back on the floor. She was then mixed with a mixture of emotions. She was both happy, thankful yet pissed. This means that someone had caused the fall and someone was around after all. She looked around to see if anyone was around, maybe watching her but all she saw surrounding her were walls painted white. Her eyes took her up to observe if maybe she would see God or angel? Maybe she was dead and had been a good person so she was going to stay in heaven? But she saw nothing of the sort, just a roof on top. But at the corners of the four walls were telecoms.
"Hello?" She called out again whilst sitting up on the bed. She was getting more and more confused by the minute. Why was she being treated like This? What was this place anyways? She needed answers and she is becoming impatient now.
"Do you remember who you are?" Came a masculine voice from the telecoms.
"Who is that?" She shrieked and questioned immediately.
"Who are you?" She further interrogated.
"What is this place? Answer me now!" She yelled with a demanding tone. She was fuming now with rage written on her face.
"I will ask once again and this will be the final time, your answer will determine if you would step out of that place on your own or in a coffin so I repeat, do you remember who you are?" The voice spoke up again.
The person sounded calm and composed like he hadn't just threatened someone with their lives.
Ming Zhu stared up for a while in shock and also hoping she had misheard what the person said or Maybe she will wake up again and realize this was all a dream.
But a minute pass and nothing happened to prove that except the bed she was sitting on suddenly disappeared into thin air like she had been sitting on the floor ever since. She swallowed a lump in her throat immediately it started to appear. What was all this? What is going on? What did they want from her? All these questions kept playing in her head with no answers back. Well it was obvious she was kidnapped and seeing she don't remember anything and she was asked who she was then it's probably because they made her lose her memory on purpose. But why does she remember her name and her parents or some other people names? Maybe there was a mistake when they were trying to take her memory and she remembers this little?
It was obvious to her that these names were important and could be taken from her if they find out. They obviously don't want her remembering anything so why not give them that?
"No I don't remy who I am?" She finally spoke.
"Do you remy your name or anyone else's names?" The voice asked again.
She shook her head.."No." She lied.
immediately the word left her lips a beep came from nowhere.
"Miss Huang Ming Zhu. We have a lie detector and it's a hundred percent accurate. It will go off immediately it hears a lie. Neither you nor I can lie." The voice said calmly.
"It will be the best if you would just cooperate without any hesitation and I assure you, you will step out of these four walls on your own."
" Where will I be going if I get out?" Ming asked.
"Would I be free to leave this place and go home?"
"You will definitely be going home dead or alive." Came the man reply.
"Hey who are you anyways and why do you keep threatening me?" Ming Zhu yelled.
" This is kidnapping and I will make sure you pay for this experience!" She continued to threaten the man.
" Ah yes, experience. You've finally said what your purpose is here on your own. You have been brought here for just that and you're the one whose going to determine what the experience will do to you."
"Did I asked for it?" She immediately barked as she heard another potential threat on her life.
" Miss Ming Zhu, I so not have the time for chit chat and neither do you, you will not be able to lie so keep that in mind as you answer my question, it is the last." The voice spoke dismissively.
"Aside from your name, which other names you remember? Call them out." She hesitated and didn't know what to do at that moment. Her heart drummed in her chest what was she going to do now? She couldn't tell him their names, she just couldn't. She don't know if it was moral but she just couldn't tell him. They seemed important to her.
A sigh was heard from the telecoms as she hesitated and suddenly something started to form in front of her and soon she could decipher it clearly. A gun was in front of her and it was pointed at her.
"Answer!" The man demanded.
She gulped and she started to shake
Giving the names out would mean the end for her. She don't know why she felt that way but that was just the way she felt and she was going to protect them. She quickly bent down in fear and it was just in time cause the sound of the gun was heard and a bullet flew past her head.
She screamed then started running to a corner in the room. She went over and balled herself. More guns appeared from every corner and it was then she knew it was over for her. She was going to die!
"Answer!" The composed man finally yelled cause of limited patience. She knew she couldn't live further with this kind of experience, she would have made a therapist rich. She closed her eyes waiting for all the guns to go off and end this stupid experience.
Maybe her sacrifice would help or save someone really important to mankind and she will be remembered as a hero.
"Check." The man suddenly said then groaned.
" I had wanted to see blood. Alright time for you to move on." She slowly opened her eyes and saw that all the guns had disappeared like They never existed or threatened to take her life. A door suddenly opened beside her and she saw a lot of people watching her.
She saw a lot of people watching her from the other side of the door, she got up quickly and looked around and up to where the telecoms were they were still that but no one spoke from there again.
" Check?" She questioned the telecoms but no response came, she turned back to the door were and those people were still looking at her with their hands at their sides but in a fist.
They had no expression at all on their faces. They were all dressed the same way. A jacket with a picture on both arm and the front of it. It was same picture and it seems like their symbol. A woman's head with snakes for a hair and a warning sign on her.
"Who...who...who are you... people huh?" She questioned while strembling. She wanted to give up on her pride and cry. She had no idea why she felt so ashamed to cry in front of people. The are so many things she didn't understand about herself at moment. Was it because she didn't have her memory? She couldn't remember a thing about her life before she woke up in this strange place except her name, parents name and two other name which she will never disclose to them no matter what. After a staring contest between her them with her not moving a muscle towards them one of them sighed. He was at the front like a leader. He looked at a lot older than her. She wasn't sure how old or their age difference because she wasn't sure of her age either.
"Don't just sit there, hurry over you've escaped death." He said.
His voice was deep and harsh. He sounded scary with his long beard and cold eyes, he also looked scary as well. Ming Zhu had no idea what she had gotten herself into but she knew it wouldn't help if she stayed there and not try to find out what on earth was going on and what happened to all her memories. She hesitantly got up. She took a final good look at the place then rushed out the door. The door closed immediately she had stepped out.
"Congratulations on becoming almost trainee of the Medusa's beheaders." The man congratulated her with no sign of excitement or happiness on his face. He was just standing there emotionless.
"Trainee? Trainers for what?" She jumped into questioning again.
"Oh my goodness, you ask a lot of questions what are you a child? We should have programmed you to ask no questions and do as instructed." The man complained looking frustrated. Everyone can now confirm he's not a remote control robot. He sighed then turned his back against her.
"Excuse me? Did you say program? What do you mean program me? Am I a robot?" She allowed so many things to enter her head that could be the reason for all this bizarre situations. She thought she might be a robot programmed for killing and this might be a training but, she doesn't feel like one. Infact she thinks she's a human and if she cuts herself she will witness blood coming out of that spot. Or was she mistaken?
"You're not a robot." The man answered after a while, it was as if he waited to allow her finish thinking all the bizarre things that entered her head.
Phew. She thought to herself.
"Then Did I hear wrong?" She asked again.
"No you didn't." He answered.
"Then what do...." She began another question again but he walked off and the others followed suit. They walked ahead until another door opened.
"C'mon, tag along." The man requested before going through. She was startled again. Immediately he walked in he vanished and the same thing happened to the rest following him without another word.
She looked around, there was no one around just an empty white room. She was secretly hoping and praying that some people will jump out and say it's a prank. We were pranking and you fell for it silly.
But seconds later and no such thing happened.
Her legs are beginning to shake now since this is all getting more and more realistic and dangerous. It doesn't feel the least bit of a dream to her at all... At least not anymore and her stomach turn to the realization.
Nuts form in her stomach but she walked forward to join those who had gone through it. She had no other option.
It was either that or remain there all alone and she wasn't sure if she'll be alone there for long.
She'd either been dragged along or killed since that's what she's been threatened with ever since she woke up her.
She walked closer and closer to the door but stop when she was just a step away. One step further and she has gone through it.
Seeing as there's still nothing by the other side she was still surprised by what she saw and she tried the door first by using her right hand to go through it.
As soon as it does her hand vanishes and it startled her so she kept back, taking her hand with her.
"Get over here!" Someone shouted and it startled her even more. She looked around but didn't see anyone. The possibility was that the order came from where she was to go.
"Ok... One two three, you can do this!" She encouraged herself as she did a little warm up where she was then took a deep breath and ran through the door.
