Chapter 9- Expectations are expensive

Wenqi could not stand her stubbornness which she wasn't supposed to show on her wedding day. He marched his steps at her, grabbed her wrist, and twisted it. The little kid immediately hopped down as she pursed her lips and did not try to get away with the bit of punishment he was giving her.

He did not care about her face in front of the guest the same way Lin Xie thought it would satisfy people if he raised his hands on his son so brutally. Lin Bao wanted to help Dongmei, but he felt helpless too. So he just shed tears and kept looking at Wenqi, pleading in his eyes to stop tormenting her.

As correctly guessed, No one stopped him from attempting to tear her bones apart. Finally, however, she was not as brave or strong as her six-year-old brother and started giving in. She sniveled, and Wenqi felt it was enough for her brain to come to its place, making her drop down on the couch.

He asked the girl in front of who wrapped her left wrist with her right palm, "Do you still have a mind to become a thorn in this beautiful garland?"

Dongmei looked at the little boy beside her, who looked worried and scared. She saw her brother Bai An run towards her to defend her. A smile spread across her face as she realized that the little innocent hearts supported her, and the fully grown-up acted unreasonably.

Bai An opened her fist with tears running down his face. She looked at his forehead injury and ran her hands over the wound. It was hurting, but Bai An found relief in the warmth of her hand and said, "Sister, Just marry him!"

Lin Bao looked at Bai An's eyes and thought it was the right thing to do If he did not want her not to get hurt more. So he spoke hesitantly, "Bai Mama!" He felt awkward calling another woman whom he did not hate 'Mama'; he remembered her mother telling him the last time she met him, 'Promise me to never clash with your father's bride.'

'Be Good,' 'She will not treat you bad if you obey her.' It had hurt his pride when his mother told them all. Now, He had no choice but to keep her mother's promise.

Dongmei was astonished to hear a little suddenly calling her 'Mama.' She turned pale and looked at them blankly at the two kids of the same age. They were pretty flexible and easily adapted themselves to the situation. But a fence in her heart was blocking her from accepting her so-called fate.

She picked up the fan and again covered her face, which everyone thought she had agreed to marry him, The Evil, cruel Mafia. Dongmei had watched many Mafia dramas, and she hated this genre the most. First, It was not logical that the lead always turned out to be far better than the news or rumors that had spread. How come it was always the female lead being misled by the talks and overreacted.

"It is difficult to decide if a person is good or bad. But a person with the less evil deeds is the good person for the victim." But, she added, "I can't marry this person in any case."

"He deceived his bride-to-be and her family. He ignored his son. He hit him in front of me. He did not stop my grandfather, who was ruthlessly trying to break my bones."

"He cannot be a good husband even if he squeezes out every drop of his blood to write his apology. It won't be enough." She said as she turned to climb up her stairs.

"I won't marry him____" Dongmei could not finish her words as Wenqi dragged her away and pushed her out of the gate.

She fell on her knees and injured her palms again. It had worsened, and she groaned, looking up to him in resentment. Her fan was torn, and her dress was ripped off and got dusty. Her hair loosened as she looked up at the old man with eyes full of burning coal. She feigned her laugh, and her mouth was filled with bitterness as she said, "You are throwing me? Just because of Lin Family."

Wenqi ignored her and thought she would soon give up and beg him for mercy. But, to his surprise, Dongmei did not move and knelt in the cold winter on the bare tiled floor. She sealed her lips and looked like she was going on a strike against them.

The Bai and the Lin Family, both of them had failed her sweet fantasies. One thing marked a scar on the stone, 'I won't marry a man who doesn't value human life.'

'I won't marry a man without any moral values.'

'This is my limit, and no one has the authority to violate it. So what if that person is my dad's dad.' She sat down on an actual strike with complete determination.

"I bid farewell to the Lin family with full respect and honor." She spoke with her eyes on the ground.

The two little ones looked at her, and a pinch of joy was added to their worried heart. They were scared to reveal their happiness and spoke no words. Bai An held Lin Bao's hand, and both of them vanished.

Shouyi saw them slipping away like water; she decided not to pursue them and was worried about her stubborn daughter.

Wenqi had enough of her, Lin Xie received a call from an unknown person, and he panicked after the phone hung up. He whispered in his grandfather's ears," She is in hospital." Jingwei tried to stop him but didn't stop and immediately left without even addressing the Bai Family old man.

He left Jingwei in an awkward situation. However, he did not feel guilty and instead attacked Wenqi by saying, "If your granddaughter had a tiny bit of sense, then she would not have delayed the wedding ceremony. Now his schedule is all packed up."

"Cancel the wedding! You all didn't even show me her face. She is sitting at the door, Kneeling to go against all of us."

"Still, her face can't be seen."

"I guess we cannot force this pure bond."

Wenqi was taken aback as clearly Jingwei and his grandson were at fault. How dare he scold the Bai Family. He was disappointed, and Jingwei sensed it. They were, after all, a Childhood friend.

"Ayee, Let's forget we ever had a marriage talk."

"We should not spoil her decades of friends for a little argument."

He said and left as he received no response from anyone. He knew his old friend would only be hostile to him for a few days. Then again, they will go and play golf.

After everyone left, Dongmei stood up as she stumbled, and her shaky limbs did not support her to get in. She was relieved to see a smile on Lin Bao's face when he left. Likewise, she could sense happiness on her brother's face.

Dongmei put her feet inside the hall, and just then, Wenqi took long steps and pushed her again. It was no surprise that she was hurt again. "I don't ever want to see your face again."

"Get Out!" He shouted at the top of his voice.

"They've left___ " Dongmei could not finish her words when a hand left a mark on her face. Wenqi slapped her, "Get out!"
