A Bleak Or A Bright Future?

Awooooooo!!!

Deep inside a dark forest, located at the bottom of the Wolf King Mountain, a white specter was moving through the terrain as if its life depended on it. Actually, it wasn't running for its life, since it was not exactly "alive" to begin with. It was actually running to protect the life of a newborn baby, that was currently lying down on a basket tied to its back.

Behind it, there were multiple grey and black wolves giving chase, crazily following that white specter, since they were extremely hungry and thirsty, eager to eat whatever was inside that basket.

With each step it took, its white spectral form was getting more and more ethereal, more and more illusory. What was once a real white fur, was now only a blurred image of a small and thin white form, that even animals born for the hunt, were failing to perceive with their trained eyes.

After a certain point, the wolves running after it would even think they were crazy to see a basket floating above the earth, if they were capable of forming a concrete thought process. But since they were acting out of instinct, they kept chasing after that blurring white shadow, being guided by a faint sweet smell.

Finally, after running what it seemed to be an eternity, that white silhouette arrived closer to what appeared to be two werewolf females, that were probably hunting due to the full moon. As that specter slowed down, it was already turning transparent and unreal, making it impossible for any of them to notice it.

"Lya... Are you sure it was just a small earthquake? I can swear that my blood was boiling, somehow."

The woman called Lya seemed to be a person in her late twenties or early thirties. Everyone that looked towards her, was able to feel a vital energy that made them get bewildered, since it was stronger than the average female out there. Not only that, but her looks were without doubt above average and even though she had a shallow scar on the left side of her neck, from an old injury she acquired in battle, she looked like an enchanting flower.

Her talkative friend was called Dacia and after experiencing the earth shaking, she was kind of eager to go back to her house in the tribe.

Even though Lya had also been affected by that strange phenomenon, her head was elsewhere, worrying about other matters.

"Don't worry, it was just a normal tremor. Sigh... Compared to "that", this won't affect our lives that much." Lya said with a dispirited voice.

Dacia seemed to have been brought back to reality by that phrase and she couldn't help but ask what was on her mind.

"Are you really going to accept that? I thought you didn't want to tie your fate with any male from that tribe, but after they announced that bullshit of a pact, it seemed you just ended up accepting it."

"Things are not so simple Dacia. The Grey Mane Tribe had requested for a cooperation from us, for the next major hunt, since it is possible that we might encounter a few unwanted visitors in our region. If I were to just blandly refuse that pact, they might not accept it and cause trouble for us. If it comes to the worst, it could end up in a major conflict between our Iron Grade Tribes, since were dealing with that eccentric person."

Lya sighed and continued: "It was so hard for us to hide in here, we couldn't possibly throw this perfect disguise away so easily, right? However, I will never accept being a tool for any male or female, be it for safety reasons or not."

"I get it, I get it. I just feel hard to believe, that they would bring up this bullshit of cooperation, just so they could propose a marriage pact right after."

Dacia felt inwardly mad at the whole situation, but suddenly, her eyes brightened up as she said: "Wait! We just need to find a reason to decline! A plausible reason could shake them off, at least for some time. Maybe, if they were to accept any of the other women... I'm sure there are someone who is willing to make a pact like that. If they could accept it, then..."

Dacia tried to find any women who might accept it within her memories, but she continued her failure of a reasoning, as she found none: "Sigh... But it can't be that hard to find a suitable reason like that, right? If it comes to the worst, the only other option available for us now, is to actually leave this tribe and go find another secure place to hide."

"Sigh..." Lya sighed, as her mind was already coming to terms with the idea of moving out once again. For some reason, she didn't want to be in the spotlight or in the middle of something complicated, but the marital pact proposed by the Grey Mane Tribe, was somehow, revolving around her.

Everyone knew that the first son of the Grey Mane Tribe chieftain, was interested in her. Actually, that interest had already developed to an infatuation, as that man got mesmerized by Lya's beautiful figure, when he first saw her.

As a man of status, he thought he would be able to woo her easily, when in reality, she didn't even bother to look at his direction. However, his infatuation with her only grew with time and using the tool called as "diplomacy", both of their tribes were about to meet and discuss a few matters. One of them being that "cooperation."

Both women were walking through the dark forest, thinking about the mess they were in, while collecting some wooden sticks that they would bring home and use to lit a fire later. Their fates were going to change soon, but none of them knew how big were going to be those changes, so they could only keep moving forward, towards a very special direction.
